TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of Roper Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: ROP) is seeking a full-time Integrated Systems Test Engineer I to join our Quality Assurance Integrated System Test Group in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Job Summary: The Systems Test Engineer I position is an entry-level role and will contribute to multiple aspects of the QA team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Client-facing testing 3 to 4 times per year

  • Hardware installation and reconfiguration across all aspects of the office and test track facilities

  • Software installation and reconfiguration to support the software development life cycle testing (including unit, regression, integration, system, and qualification testing)

  • Contribute to QA goals including:
    • Documentation of current end-to-end processes, both within the QA Team as well as the broader Infinity Team

    • Implementation of task tracking and documentation

    • Increase percentage of software changes that are tested and documented in Albuquerque

    • Best practices training and outreach to other Infinity teams, including project support, maintenance teams, staging, and others

  • Less than 10% travel

  • Frequent shifted hours and schedules as needed to support testing requests

Education: Bachelors degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Willingness to perform physical tasks as required by project teams for hardware reconfiguration outside at our test facility in Albuquerque

  • Ability to work independently on requested tasks, and to effectively hand off tasks to other team members when necessary, based on shifting priorities

  • Ability to effectively respond to changing priorities

  • Ability to develop and improve process documentation

  • Ability to provide outstanding support to internal and external customers and stakeholders

  • Ability to teach and be taught to share knowledge across the team

  • Willingness to learn and navigate a complex embedded system of systems

  • Familiarity with Linux or Windows operating systems

  • Familiarity with issue identification and documentation

  • Four or more of the skills referenced in the Desired Skills section of this job description, from both a technical category and the test and evaluation category

Desired Skills:

The successful candidate will have training or experience in several of the test and evaluation skills categories, as well as the technical skills category. We are looking for candidates with well-rounded skill sets who are looking to add to their knowledge repertoire.

  • General Test and Evaluation skills:
  • Experience with generalized troubleshooting in complex environments

  • Previous experience with JIRA or similar RAIL tools

  • Previous experience implementing a wiki or other documentation outreach

  • Previous experience identifying shortfalls in processes, improving them, and supporting team outreach and training

  • Test and Evaluation background

  • System of systems integration and testing

  • Test requirement/criteria development

  • Test script development

  • Test script execution

  • Test result documentation

  • Automated testing

  • Regression testing
  • Technical Software-focused skills:
  • Complex network environments (mixed Windows and Linux)

  • Scripting (Perl/Bash/Batch/PowerShell)

  • Configuration management

  • Bug identification and documentation

  • Familiarity with markup languages

  • HTML

  • XML

  • SQL/Database

  • Python

  • C++

  • Ruby

  • C#
  • Technical Hardware-focused skills:

    • Hardware troubleshooting

    • Experience reading wiring diagrams

    • Experience troubleshooting hardware issues (especially if the software has already been proven good)

    • Experience installing and verifying firmware (MCU and FPGA)

    • Experience with Return Material Authorizations (RMAs)
