We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual for this Integration Research Associate 2 position within the Core Services Sequencing Lab to help run day to day operations. Our ideal candidate will work cross functionally with the team and other groups sharing and using their knowledge of Illumina sequencing platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct laboratory work with general direction
  • Assist in day-to-day communications with customers about run inquiries and general core lab customer communication
  • Assist in general instrument maintenance: post-washing and maintenance and overall lab maintenance (cleaning, 6S, etc.)
  • Assist in prepping reagents, sample/library preparation and loading of sequencers
  • Assist in creating documentation for day-to-day operational tasks
  • Assist with data management and data archiving
  • Assist troubleshooting issues related to data/networking
  • Assist in reagent inventory, organizing reagents, and making reagent reports
  • Communicating to engineers of any instrument issues
  • Assist in run error tracking and run troubleshooting
  • Assist in reagent ordering and pick up
  • Recognize potential problems, understand and troubleshoot
  • Help plan, conduct, analyze, interpret, and report recommendations based on tested experimental results
  • Write reports, summaries and protocols for project needs, and other teams as appropriate
  • Contribute to the overall success of projects; anticipate problems to minimize issues and work to resolve any issues to minimize impact on success of project
  • Execute protocols for operation and maintenance of Illumina sequencers
  • Learn and understand the applicable technology and engage in technical discussions

Requirements:

  • Experience with NGS technology desired
  • Experience with Illumina sequencers desired
  • Must be able to work in a matrix organization
  • Solid skills in document writing; development of reports, plans, work instructions, etc.
  • Understanding of scientific principles
  • Sound laboratory skills required
  • Detail-oriented, organized, ability to implement protocols and keep good notes in a lab notebook
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Experience/Education:

  • Typically requires a bachelors degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics or related field with relevant industry experience
  • Experience in a customer focused environment preferred
