Job Description:

The Retail Commercial Lending Intern position is responsible for participation in a 12-week (40 hours/week) Intern Program with specific emphasis upon learning the primary responsibilities of Retail Commercial Lending. Interns will actively participate in an assigned group intern project. This position will receive an hourly wage of $17 per hour, plus a $250 starting bonus.

Candidates who have completed their junior year and are pursuing a college degree in Agribusiness, Finance, Accounting or Animal Science and have a sincere interest in ag lending are preferred. Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Position Summary:
Responsible for learning, understanding and actively participating in the retail loan origination process including sales, underwriting, monitoring and servicing of large and complex loans. Will be actively engaged with lenders, underwriters, appraisers and loan processing team members who work with the portfolios of moderately complex loans. Candidates must have a passion for agriculture, a strong work ethic, be flexible, willing to travel and a sincere interest in a fast-paced learning opportunity.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:
1. Learn how to develop and maintain a portfolio of large and complex loan assets that meet or exceed quality and income expectations and appropriately utilize Association capital.
2. Assist with developing, maintaining and enhancing relationships with large commercial producers and agribusinesses.
3. Assist in advanced credit analysis, underwriting, and monitoring.
4. Participate in field inspections and customer interactions with appraisal staff and lenders.
5. Learn how to assist in structuring of assigned credits, in coordination with relationship officers, credit staff and customers.
6. Observe and assist in loan documentation and loan closing for exposure to legal requirements.
7. Attend staff meetings and participate in credit discussions.
8. Complete special projects as assigned.
Additional functions of the position may include:
1. Perform other related duties as assigned.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to reason, judge, compare, calculate, evaluate and critique such information as written materials, numerical data, responses to customer needs and/or other work related activities.
• Ability to complete work in an acceptable timeframe and manage a variety of detailed tasks and responsibilities simultaneously and with accuracy to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives and satisfy internal and external customer needs related to the job.
• Ability to operate telephone and respond to calls and in-person inquiries.
• Ability to move about the office with occasional reaching and bending.
• Ability to successfully interact with and represent the organization to staff, officers, board members, customers, and the public at all levels.
• Ability to use a keyboard and computer. This involves reading the screen and keying/typing information.
• Ability to travel by auto or commercial transportation to carry out essential responsibilities
