Purpose of Role



This position is primarily responsible for the optimization of Primes Inventory across the US Petcare network, accomplished through close collaboration with key stakeholders through formal and informal venues; ensuring a sufficient inbound pipeline for the manufacturing network, while reducing overall inventory financial exposure.



To realize this, the position must:



  • Gain deep understanding of inventory optimization tools through robust design of experiments, ultimately leading to model modification to most closely simulate Petcare supply chain as much as possible

  • Continuously refine model after each optimization iteration through evaluation of key business metrics against SKU level CSL performance

  • Conduct continuous what if scenarios to assist in business decisions such as time-phased sourcing, business target considerations/constraints, geographic sourcing, production cycles, and overflow sourcing

  • Identify inventory drivers continuously through Pareto analysis in order to assist the Inbound Operations and Souring teams to ensure that the inbound pipeline is sufficient while reducing overall inventory financial exposure

  • Collaborate with the inbound coordinators and ACMs to develop and maintain safety stock levels for all GRDs; position is responsible for GRD safety stock recommendations but inbound coordinators are responsible for planning to meet safety stock for their sites. This relationship requires tight and constant collaboration to succeed

  • Develop network optimization models to drive sourcing strategy development

  • Work with supply planning and sites to validate primes safety stock parameters and constraints

  • Work with commercial sourcing and operations to identify opportunities for inbound freight cost reduction

  • Lead inventory optimization process development and supporting implementation of inventory optimization tools



Principal Accountabilities



  • Optimize inventory quarterly and maintain safety stock settings in SAP

  • Monitor and trend safety stock data in order to identify gaps and opportunities for continuous pipeline flow to ensure targeted CSL

  • Validate optimization tool inputs through reviews with operations- and supply planning

  • Validate optimization outputs through business metric analysis and ACM collaboration

  • Develop seasonal approach to safety stock to optimize cost through periods of prebuild and normal production

  • Prepare inventory reports for the CLT and SCMR

  • Develop tools to assist in gaining insight into safety stock effectiveness and root cause analysis

Minimum Qualifications



  • BS / BA Business, Logistics, Supply Chain or quantitative discipline.

  • 3-5 years of experience managing inventory in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience managing change and implementing Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma initiatives.

  • Experience in providing operations perspective into overall inventory management strategy



Preferred Qualifications



  • MBA or advanced degree

  • 5 years of experience managing inventory in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience leading change and implementing Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma initiatives.

  • Experience in providing operations perspective into overall inventory management strategy
