Position Summary:

Responsible for the technical operations of the Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Echo laboratories at all clinic locations. Assures quality control and regulatory compliances are met as required by IAC accreditation. Develops and implements cardiovascular protocols and procedures. Responsible for the functional and operational excellence in the non-invasive cardiovascular imaging area in addition to providing high level cardiovascular services.

Position Key Accountabilities:

1. Performs diagnostic cardiac and vascular ultrasound exams.

2. Assists in establishing protocols; implements and standardizes for all clinical sites.

3. Ensures adherence to all requirements of IAC accreditation for Echo and/or Vascular procedures. Conducts quarterly improvement meetings as required by IAC; monitors quality improvement with chart audits. Leads IAC accreditation applications and resources.

4. Responsible for equipment management, including upgrades and implementation of new applications. Ensures equipment and systems are kept up to date and compliant with current standards.

5. Provides system troubleshooting for image archive and data base systems.

6. Attends continuing education seminars to stay abreast of technological advances. Tracks the continuing education needs of the sonographer staff.

7. Provides in-service training to new and existing clinical staff and serves as a lead resource to faculty all sonographers. Trains sonographers including new employees.

8. Serves as laboratory liaison to assure quality control and regulatory compliance.

9. Leads resource allocation for all clinic sites to ensure adequate staffing, including scheduling of sonographers at all clinic locations and managing coverage for planned and unplanned absences.

10. Must be able to respond to emergency situations.

11. Other duties as assigned.


Certified as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) AND Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) by the ARDMS or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) by the CCI.

Minimum Education:

Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology or its equivalent.
Associates degree preferred.

Minimum Experience:

Five years of experience in diagnostic cardiovascular ultrasound.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
