  • Overview

    The Data Science Team applies expertise in machine learning, computational architectures, data visualization, and simulation to solve hard research challenges in high impact areas including cybersecurity, biological systems, and distributed sensor platforms. We've built large-scale data mining and generation pipelines, prototypes to visualize graphs with millions of nodes, and automated systems that detect malware, summarize source code, and predict protein stability.

    Responsibilities

    As a Lead Machine Learning Researcher , you will lead technical efforts to apply state-of-the-art deep learning and signal processing techniques to event detection problems in diverse time-domain signals, including audio, accelerometer, and network data. You will also apply machine learning techniques to generate prototypes for biometric authentication and identification using this data. You may also develop acoustic simulation environments for data augmentation and noise removal. You will work on a multidisciplinary project team that includes experts in cybersecurity, with clients that include DARPA and other DoD and IC Agencies.

    Qualifications

    Key Qualifications:

    • Expertise in state-of-the-art machine learning techniques and their application to challenging problems, especially in speech or biometrics (speech-to-text transcription, speaker recognition).
    • Experience with digital signal processing techniques (noise removal, channel equalization, beamforming, speaker localization, filter design).
    • Demonstrable programming experience with Python, C/C++, or similar language.
    • Comfortable analyzing complex problems and communicating research results.
    • 5+ years of relevant practical experience.
    • Relevant BS degree (CS, EE, math/stats, etc.) or equivalent practical experience.
    • Ability to obtain DoD security clearance.

    Nice to Have:
    • Applied research experience, especially with DARPA or a similar agency.
    • Experience providing technical leadership to a project team and/or mentoring junior team members.
    • Familiarity with TensorFlow and/or PyTorch
    • Familiarity with software development tools and platforms (Git, Docker, Jupyter, etc.).
    • Advanced degree or published work in a relevant research area.
    • Active DoD security clearance.
