Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity in the San Francisco office for a junior/mid-level Legal Secretary providing secretarial support in our Transactional Service Center.

The Transactional Service Center provides a one-stop shop for all attorneys assigned to the Center. In this role you will provide accurate and timely and secretarial support and diversified and confidential administrative support to a large group of assigned transactional partners, associates and other timekeepers. You will have extensive interaction with other lawyers and staff members within the firm daily. You will need to have strong organizational skills to handle work flow. You will exercise considerable discretion and use independent discernment to take initiative and team with your attorneys to handle important administrative tasks necessary so that they can focus on their practice, business development and client work. The Service Center Secretary is responsible for modeling and acting in accordance with Orrick's client service standards and core values.

Initially your regular working hours on this assignment will be 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. You would be need to be available for occasional overtime.

You will work under the mentorship of the Lead Legal Secretary and provide the following support to attorneys in the Service Center:
• Prepare, format, edit and proofread legal documents and general correspondence
• Open new client matters and assist with crafting client engagement letters and running conflicts
• Prepare Audit Response Letters
• Make national and international travel arrangements
• Prepare travel expense reports, entertainment expense reports, check requests and other accounting forms
• Attorney time entry in a timely basis
• Photocopy, scan, CD creation
• Coordinate with the Copy Center on large copy projects
• Work with Document Processing Department, Copy Center and Administrative Resource Center
• Meeting planning, including: scheduling, reserving conference rooms, arranging video and teleconferencing support
• Maintain and update client contact information and client lists in firm software programs
• Follow firm established policies and procedures
• Prepare closing binders
• Assist other secretaries, attorneys and departments with administrative tasks, as needed
• Other Miscellaneous related duties as assigned


• High School Diploma or equivalent; college degree a plus
• A minimum of two years administrative or secretarial experience in a law firm
• Advanced computer skills including .pdf technology, MS PowerPoint, Outlook calendaring and email, Excel, Word and Outlook
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Flexibility and ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks in a dynamic working environment
• Strong administrative skills in areas of organization, attention to detail, and travel and meeting planning
• Dedicated and enthusiastic approach to client service and collaboration
