Intertek,a leading provider ofATIC(Assurance, Testing, Inspection and Certification) Services,is looking for a Lighting Test Technicianto join our Transportation Technologiesteam in Kentwood, MI.

The Transportation Technologies team provides the transportation industry with the confidence that its products and services meet required safety and quality standards. The team's services cover all aspects of clients' needs from advisory, auditing, certification and inspection to outsourcing, quality assurance, testing, training and more.

The Lighting Test Technicianwill support the Transportation Technologies business by providing technical support for engineering staff, including performing duties related to routine testing, maintenance or clean-up. This position works under direct supervision. We're looking for someone with the ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions


  • Setting up test apparatus
  • Operating equipment
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment and facilities`
  • Preparing test samples
  • Obtaining and recording test data in accordance with standards
  • Performing basic analysis of test data and routine calculations
  • May draft technical reports

This position will be for automotive Lighting testing lab. The tests include photometric (light intensity/color) and functional tests (e.g. leaking, aiming, dust, moisture, vibration) of automotive lamps and signals. To be successful in this role, a candidate needs to be able to learn and follow instructions to support workflow in the lighting lab, prepare for a test and operate basic Lighting testing equipment.


  • High school diploma and0-3 years directly related experience
  • Associates Degreein engineering (mechanical, materials, chemical) or science (chemistry, physics, material science) or related fields is a plus.
  • Ability to utilize basic shop equipment and various hand tools
  • Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information in an effective manner
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Strong communication skills, in both verbal and written formats
  • Microsoft Office software expertise, including Word, Excel and Outlook
