As the Planner, you will be responsible for developing the operational plan that enhances street operations by improving the overall efficiency of the drayage network. Youll create plans that reduce or eliminate empty miles and optimize resources to ensure on-time performance. What youll do on a typical day:

  • Develop and manage a daily plan for the full optimization of street operations; manage equipment to decrease dwell days

  • Create a plan that fully optimizes the independent owner-operators who are leased exclusively to the organization

  • Partner with core carriers and owner-operators to achieve service expectations

  • Negotiate rates to maximize profitability

  • Coordinate with equipment providers to ensure that equipment is available to meet customer needs; track carrier on-time performance

  • Collaborate with customer service team to schedule appointments

  • Provide feedback to the commercial organization regarding network balance issues and empty mile opportunities

  • Oversee a daily process to ensure empty miles are minimized and load-to-load cycles are maximized

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, youll need:

  • Bachelors degree in logistics, supply chain or equivalent related work experience

  • 1 year of related experience

Itd be great if you also have:

  • 3 or more years of logistics or transportation experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project)

  • Excellent negotiation skills; experience dealing effectively with individuals and groups within and outside the organization

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; experience presenting clean, organized and thorough information and data appropriate for intended audience

  • Strong aptitude for understanding and analyzing large amounts of data from multiple sources

  • Experience performing complex analysis of data, processes, policies, procedures and systems
