The Manager, Distribution and Logistics has the primary responsibility to effectively coordinate shipments in a compliant manner to and from PTC locations and external partners to support business requirements. The incumbent will also contribute to the planning, monitoring and performance of activities related to the inventory management and distribution of Clinical and Commercial product in compliance with global trade requirements, internal procedures and GxP requirements.

The incumbent collaborates with PTC internal departments and third-party vendors, including but not limited to, Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs), 3rd party logistics providers, (3PLs), specialty pharmacies ( SPs) and couriers /shipping agents to ensure the availability of Clinical and Commercial Product.

The incumbent works cross-functionally with internal departments and external resources on Supply Chain, Distribution and Logistics- related issues.

The Manager, Distribution and Logistics supports adherence to relevant regulatory requirements and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as appropriate.

Primary duties/responsibilities:

  • Facilitates the shipping of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods for development, pre-clinical, clinical, and commercial use to and from domestic and international locations.

  • Manages the internal data repositories for shipping documentation and related information in a compliant manner.

  • Coordinates shipping activities with internal stakeholders, external logistics providers, PTC supply chain partners, customs brokers and related parties.

  • Prepares the shipping documentation as required by local regulations and shipping terms. This includes commercial invoice, USDA memo, FDA memo, statements required by other regulatory agencies, and any other documentation as may be required.

  • Facilitates the supply and distribution of commercial product from primary distributor to specialty pharmacies.

  • Interacts with CMOs/CDOs and transport providers to ensure the timely shipping and delivery of inventory; coordinates and implements the logistics activities associated with the international and domestic transportation and distribution of PTCs products.

  • Supports inventory data and collation of inventory data to support planning and forecasting processes.

  • Facilitates and supports routine order management, This includes, but may not limited to, Free-of-charge (FOC) product approval, management of any applicable order limits and general support for all orders processed.

  • Supports local wholesalers, PTC Offices and customers in local territories relating to customer approval, orders and general enquiries.

  • Responsible for actions related to launch in new territories as requested.

  • Supports documentation relating to supply order management and supply chain processes. Oversees logistics flow and transport of work in progress (WIP) and finished products.

  • Supports vendor management of PTC primary distributor. This includes, but not limited to, the management of queries, support of all orders, set-up and approval of new customers.

  • Supports wholesalers and other contract entities in local territories to manage local inventory and supply support.

  • Measures Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive performance for on-time and full-delivery performance.

  • Performs other tasks and assignments as needed and specified by management.

* Minimum level of education and years of relevant work experience.

  • Bachelors degree in a related discipline and a minimum of 5 years of supply chain, logistics or manufacturing experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, manufacturing or related environment OR equivalent experience and/or education.

* Special knowledge or skills needed and/or licenses or certificates required.

  • Demonstrated experience overseeing and facilitating the distribution of raw materials, clinical supplies and/or commercial product(s).

  • Demonstrated and applied experience overseeing/collaborating with 3PLs, specialty couriers, external logistics providers, distributors, specialty pharmacies and customs brokers.

  • Demonstrated and applied experience working with CMOs/CDOs and transportation providers.

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating logistics activities for both international and domestic transportation and distribution.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide hands-on support for managing vendor inventory at external partner locations.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal team members and external vendors.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, as required, in a fast-paced, matrixed, team environment consisting of internal and external team members.

  • Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.

  • Excellent planning, organization and time management skills including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects.

*Special knowledge or skills and/or licenses or certificates preferred.

  • Strong working knowledge in Good Distribution Practice (GDP), HTS classifications, U.S. import and export regulations, Hazmat shipping requirements, DOT / IATA requirements, Safety Data Sheets.

  • General knowledge of import and export requirements in major geographies including China, Latin America, and European Union.

  • Licensed Customs Broker a plus.
