PURPOSE

As the Manager of Talent Management you will design, develop and implement solutions for the effective identification, development, and retention of AEO talent. Applying innovative and behaviorally-sound practices, you will focus on impacting the efficiency and effectiveness of individuals, teams and the organization. Key areas of ownership include performance management, talent reviews, development planning, and surveying. You will work closely with HR Business Partners and Department Leaders in a consultative manner to advise and build solutions aligning people with business priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working closely with the Director, Org Effectiveness, create strategies, design processes and develop key talent management practices and tools for talent reviews, talent assessments, succession planning, employee development and career development.
  • Analyze current practices and provide recommendations to enhance processes and technology / providers ensuring continuous improvement aligned with Business Strategies.
  • Inform and support the learning and development curriculum based on needs assessments across associate and leader lifecycles that reinforce the AEO Values and drives a culture of inclusion and engagement.
  • In partnership with Director, OE and Total Rewards team, manage the continued evolution and practice of the performance management process (Performance + Development Plan / PDP) including process design, assessment of current and future system capabilities, identification of learning needs, and building of tools and resources for effective goal setting and performance measurement capability.
  • Support the assessment, design and implementation of competency definition and resources for varying levels across AEO, informing learning and development needs.
  • Provide strategic support on the Culture and Engagement Survey strategy, helping to build and manage the communication, results and tools for all relevant stakeholders including HR and Department leaders.
  • Stay current on research, developments and best-practices in talent management and related fields, inside and outside of the retail industry, to influence and impact future planning and strategy.
  • Manage interdependencies and communication among related talent and engagement programs and processes (including the content, timing and approach) for org planning.
  • Establish and manage vendor relationships where needed (including contracts and program enhancements).
  • Support HR Business Partners in functional talent and succession planning; will assist in continually improving the talent leadership and development system.
  • Work with Talent Management team and HR Business Partners to support functional change management efforts including communication planning, readiness assessments, and defining action plans.
  • Provide overall leadership, direction and support for team members; monitoring and assessing individual work in accordance with high standards of excellence. Provide feedback, coaching, support, opportunities for development, complete performance reviews, take corrective action when appropriate, and participate in hiring decisions.
  • Manage and support special projects as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or Organizational Development or similar
  • 6+ years combined work experience in human resources, talent management, learning & development, content development and delivery, workshop facilitation, organizational development and/or change management
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to use appropriate communication style for various levels across the organization
  • Excellent project management skills including the ability to effectively and successfully manage competing priorities simultaneously for short and long-range goals
  • Excellent facilitation skills and the ability to manage group dynamics
  • Strong change management experience (e.g. change planning, communications, workshop development, stakeholder management)
  • Strong interpersonal skills; Leads by example; Enjoys working with others in a collaborative, social environment; Effective at building and maintaining strong relationships
  • Has a passion for excellence; attention to detail is critical to success
  • Can "roll up sleeves" and design/contribute to programs as needed
  • Demonstrated strong business acumen and ability to work effectively across teams, levels and varying professional styles (HR Business Partner experience a plus)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills (MS PowerPoint), and data analysis (MS Excel)
  • Ability to travel periodically
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word)
  • Survey platforms (Glint a plus)
  • HCM Suites (Oracle Fusion + Taleo a plus)
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (Wisetail a plus)
