Job Description Summary

The Los Angeles Times and San Diego Union-Tribune are looking for a passionate, self-driven Marketing Operations & QA Specialist to join our team and help drive our marketing efforts.

The Marketing Operations & QA Specialist is responsible for the precise, on time and accurate execution of marketing campaigns that acquire, engage and retain digital and print subscribers across all California Times properties. These campaigns include a variety of digital and traditional marketing approaches such as on-site messaging for non-subscribers (using paywall modals, display ads, etc.) emails, social and search engine platforms, print, direct mail, field sales, telemarketing, events and partnerships. This person is also responsible for quality assurance of all marketing campaigns, and targeting existing subscribers via upsell flows that help the overall revenue flow of digital acquisition and circulation across all CaliforniaTimes properties.

This individual is an accomplished self-starter who works well with others and is able to work in a fast pace environment bringing all marketing and circulation teams to execute and achieve goals on any given project. This individual will manage campaigns across all California Times properties. The Marketing Operations & QA Specialist will work within the Consumer Marketing group and report into the Senior Manager, Marketing Operations.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Create and Manage Sales Campaigns. This includes: building offers, promotions, presentations, static pages and vanity redirects.
  • Communicate and work directly with the Consumer Marketing, Data Analytics, Product, IT and Finance teams so that all campaigns are tested and executed without issues.
  • Deploy on-site campaigns and email assets across all California News Group properties.
  • Work closely with Data Analytics to create and distribute campaign reports to all stakeholders.
  • Champion the QA process that ensures high production standards (define test procedures, modify approaches, etc)
  • Analyze internal customer data sets for email campaign deployment, ensuring all lists send to the correct and eligible populations
  • QA marketing campaigns end-to-end to ensure smooth execution
  • Track & submit issues for resolution and identify areas of opportunity to prevent recurring challenges
  • Proactively escalate potential issues and risks to leadership with initial solutions
  • Work with Consumer Marketing, Customer Service and IT to address any issues

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years experience in Marketing Operations, including 2+ years of Campaign Management and Quality Assurance
  • 3+ years experience in Email Marketing Operations
  • Subscription Billing & Management of platforms. This includes building offers and landing pages with CMS, deploying emails and building Field Sales.
  • Data reporting and visualization (i.e. Tableau) to accurately build digital and circulation reporting.
  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud strongly preferred.
  • Static pages production for marketing campaigns.
  • Experience managing and QAing redirects and on-site deployments.
  • Experience building offer codes, sources, solicitors.
  • Experience managing multiple vendors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to work effectively across departments.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills. Ability to work across several projects with competing deadlines and have the ability to effectively and efficiently plan and prioritize deliverables.

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent preferred.
