Job Details

The HVAC Electrician repairs, replaces, installs, and maintains facility components using trade skills required of a Journeyman HVAC Electrician. After the 31st day of employment you must become and remain a member in good standing in the union. This will be a night shift under the hours of 12:01 AM 8:31 AM Monday Friday.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Understand principles of HVAC systems (i.e., boilers, high & low pressure refrigerant systems, hot water systems, condensate return systems, primary/secondary chilled water pumping loops, pneumatic & DDC controls).
Understands basic principles of electricity and power distribution for single and three phase systems, including the application of transformers, distribution panels, motor control centers and disconnect switches according to their NEMA classification or rating.
Is familiar with and knows how to use the National Electrical Code with particular emphasis on proper sizing of power supplies, junction boxes, wire, and conduit and overcurrent protection.
Knows how to apply and install all standard electrical equipment and devices according to the National Electrical Code (i.e., conduit, wire, hangers, boxes, fittings, panel boards, transformers, etc.
Understand the operating principles and application of electric motors and their control, including motor starters and auxiliary control devices (i.e., limit switches, relays, timers, etc.) for single and three phase motors of all standard voltages and types.
Should have a basic understanding of electronic equipment/devices (i.e., variable frequency drives, motors controllers, uninterruptible power supplies and lighting panels

Basic Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent


Experience:
* Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVACR) certification
* EPA approved refrigerant certification (universal)
* 1+ years experience as a HVAC Electrician
