Georgia-Pacifics Consumer Products Division is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer for our towel and tissue mill in Halsey, Oregon. This position is primarily responsible for leading project teams in the development and implementation of projects at the mill. This individual will also provide technical support to maintenance and operations.


The Halsey Mill is located in the Mid-Willamette Valley of Oregon. It is near both the Cascade mountains and the Pacific Ocean coastline providing outstanding outdoor opportunities while also being close to two major universities and cities that present cultural diversity and entertainment. The area and position present a great work/life balance opportunity.



A Day In The Life Typically Includes:



  • Managing capital projects from conceptualization through operational performance testing

  • Leading project teams in the development and implementation of projects using the Georgia-Pacific project work process

  • Employing solid economic thinking to successfully lead project teams in the implementation of strategic capital initiatives

  • Safely and responsibly delivering project goals including product quality, production, schedule, and cost

  • Using project management tools and techniques to complete all phases of a capital project including design, procurement, construction, and system start-up

  • Leading the project team in evaluating project alternatives, equipment, vendors and contractors

  • Providing technical support to maintenance and operations



What You Will Need:



Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or higher in Engineering or other technical field

  • Two (2) years or more of experience in Project Engineering/Management in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience with technical/mechanical specifications and drawings

  • Experience with organizing and managing multiple projects

  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

What Will Put You Ahead?



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering

  • Experience in project engineering/management in a pulp and paper operation

  • Work experience with mechanical engineering, process engineering and estimating

  • Experience with the application of a CMMS, i.e. Asset Suite / Indus Passport

  • CAD drafting experience - AutoCADand/or Inventor

  • Experience using Microsoft Project

  • Experience with capital equipment and installation projects
