Rosemount Measurement & Analytical, a business unit of Emerson Automation Solutions, is currently seeking an Metal Sensor Engineering Technician.
Rosemount is a signature brand of Emerson, offering a comprehensive line of measurement instrumentation, analyzers and systems which are used in a wide range of applications found in critical processing facilities such as refineries, chemical plants, power plants, pipelines, and more.
The Engineering Technician is an integral part of the Metal Sensor Engineering team providing engineering support to the Metal Sensor manufacturing production line. The technician will provide technical expertise to lead and support improvement projects and production floor support as required. This support will include performing complex tasks that involve fabricating, assembling, documenting, testing, troubleshooting and programming production and test equipment and fixturing.

Primary Responsibilities
Provide technical expertise for Metal Sensor improvement projects.
- Perform complex tasks involving the design, documentation, programming, and assembly of required manufacturing process test equipment and fixtures.
- Will be both a team leader and project team member as appropriate.
Provide hands on capability, support and troubleshooting for production Red-light and Yellow-light situations.
Perform sensor failure analysis as needed.
Support engineering priorities as required to execute Pressure Subassembly goals.
Evaluates and suggests changes to process, materials and methods.

Additional Areas of Responsibility
1. Performs complex tasks involving the design, documentation, programming, and assembly of required manufacturing process test equipment and fixtures.
- Works from sketches and verbal instructions where processes, materials, layout, types of components, piece parts and dimensions are usually not specified.
- Evaluates and suggests changes to process, materials and methods.
- Designs manufacturing fixtures and test equipment.
- May participate in engineering design reviews.
- Will interface with suppliers and may interface with customers.
- Will document and maintain complex station drawings.
- Operates computers to perform analysis and develop layout drawings.
2. Assist in supporting manufacturing activities through the resolution of production problems, preparation and maintenance of manufacturing documentation, labor performance documentation, implementation of cost reduction and methods improvement.
- Reviews engineering changes, new designs and recommends changes.
- Estimates labor, materials, and manufacturing costs for capital equipment justification
- Identifies and implements manufacturing improvement opportunities
3. Performs complex tests and analyzes, verifies, records and interprets data.
- Prepares apparatus, materials, chemicals, compliance systems, or computers.
- Tests limits and parameters are usually not specified.
- Operates and understands the operation theory of various machine tools and production equipment including computers, furnaces, high vacuum processing, laser welding, etc.
- Will develop and document procedures and prepare formal reports.
- Interprets test data and modifies test plans and setups based on intermediate results.
4. Performs advanced troubleshooting, calibration, failure analysis or modification of test hardware, fixtures, software, and production equipment.
- Most modifications are made independently.
- Recommends design changes to engineering.
5. Will perform design and drafting activities as required to support project work.
- Utilize manufacturing technology and packaging techniques using Rosemount accepted standards.
6. Performs work of a miscellaneous nature as required.

Additional Information
Metal Sensor Engineering and this technician are required to support both Eden Prairie and Chanhassen manufacturing sites as required; with Chanhassen being the home facility.

Education: 1800 hours of technical school.
Experience: Six years related experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with Rosemount pressure products and Pressure Subassembly Manufacturing methods.
Broad equipment experience including operation and maintenance of machine tools, furnaces, high vacuum processing, laser welding, etc.
Experience designing, building, and modifying custom manufacturing equipment.
Advanced control system programing, designing and troubleshooting knowledge in various PLC systems.
Project management experience.
Proven ability to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
Experience with Auto Cad Electrical and Pro-Engineer modeling software.
Proficiency with Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.
Advanced problem solving experience for part quality and equipment troubleshooting.
