MUSIC INSTRUMENT & EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN 

Instructional Support Technician

Music 

 

Salary Range: $1,710 - $3,004/Monthly

 

Work Schedule: Part-Time, Monday - Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., hours may be flexible during the beginning of semesters; non-exempt classification. Temporary appointment, expires on or before one year from date of hire; may be extended; may become permanent.

 

Essential Functions: Under the direct supervision of the Department Chair, the incumbent provides technical support for faculty and students in the Music Department. The incumbent provides direct support in resolving complex problems concerning musical instruments and provides instructional support in the forms of equipment set-ups, displays, demonstrations, and other learning activities. Duties include but are not limited to inventory control; storekeeping; materials and equipment purchasing and distribution; operation, survey, maintenance; and minor repair of technical and electrical equipment instruments.

Requirements

Required Qualifications & Experience: Equivalent to two years of experience providing instructional support services in Music, acting as a student assistant, or in producing materials or supplies related to Music.

OR

Equivalent to two years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment in Music may be substituted for one year of required experience.

OR

Equivalent to four years of college with 16 units in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment in Music or related discipline may be substituted for the experience.

AND

The incumbent must have knowledge of: materials, supplies, equipment, and their uses in Music or related discipline; traditional, experimental, and new technology; surveying, maintaining and repairing technical and electrical equipment; and industry standards for safety procedures on all power equipment and power tools. The incumbent must have the ability to evaluate the materials and supplies used; learn to adjust and make minor repairs on equipment and hand tools; plan activities and prepare schedules; use methods, techniques, and skills related to the Music discipline; and provide support services.  

Desired Qualifications: Experience in an academic setting. Instrument Repair Certification.
