The candidate will beresponsible for leading and coordinating cross-functional development teams forintroducing new products and solutions in Process Systems Solutions (PSS)business unit in accordance with the New Product Development (NPD) stage-gate process.

The successful candidatewill need to coordinate cross-functional teams in the definition of the NPDscope and deliverables, as well as to plan and manage the organizationreadiness for the successful launches of the assigned NPD projects. The individualwill also collaborate with technology leadership team to coordinate MyTimeInnovation and research stage-gate process and reviews.

Principal Duties andResponsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional teams in developing NPD plans in accordance with PSS NPD stage-gate process:
    • Stage-gate deliverables
    • Work breakdown structure of the NPD gate deliverables
    • Timelines to achieve the first-production-ship-date (FPSD)
    • Risk mitigation plan
    • Gate-review preparation and scheduling
    • Communication plan for team and stakeholders
    • Organization readiness plan
  • Manage the stage-gate deliverables schedule, including the FPSD, to ensure that new products or solutions are launched successfully and on-time.
  • Work with department leaders to ensure proper allocation of resources and technical expertise for the programs or projects.
  • Organize and facilitate regular team meetings and gate reviews.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, including key executives on project status (orally or in writings).
  • Prioritize and actively mitigate project risks in accordance with plan.
  • Create and maintain project documentation including status reports, meeting minutes, NPD schedules, changes, issues, gate reviews, and team presentations. Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
  • Actively manage changes (scope, schedule and cost).
  • Work with Director of NPD to identify and implement NPD process improvement plans.
  • Develop and aggressively drive overall commercialization program timelines and budgets in coordination with other departments/teams involved in the commercialization process.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in developing comprehensive project plans (including optimizing the plan by negotiating content based on priorities, risk, resource, budget and timeframe constraints) for the design and development of new products or improvement of existing products.
  • Create and maintain project documentation including design history files, status reports, meeting minutes, project schedules, changes, issues, phase-gate/design reviews, project work flow and presentations following internal design control requirements for medium and large sized cross functional projects.
  • Resolve project and cross functional issues with the team and other management leaders demonstrating negotiation and resource management skills.
  • Maintain familiarity with project management and industry standard practices and promote best practices.
  • Track realized performance, adjusting to align with shifting priorities and reporting to management.
  • Develop solutions to overcome project obstacles.
  • Contribute to the creation of and maintenance of PMO group processes.
  • Support portfolio management and prioritization activities.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Maintain familiarity with project management and industry standard practices and promote best practices.
  • Support portfolio management and prioritization activities as needed.
  • Work toward New Products Development Professional (NPDP) certification within 2 to 3 years.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • BS in Science, Engineering or equivalent and 6+ years of experience, or a Masters Degree and 5+ years of experience.
  • 5 to 10 years of software and hardware development
  • Former project management role, especially in new products development
  • Must be adept at NPD stage-gate process.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects (programs) simultaneously, large and small.
  • Is a proactive self-starter.
  • Knowledgeable and skillful in product development processes.
  • Ability to analyze data, think critically, solve problem and act to resolve issues.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office (especially PowerPoint) and MS SharePoint.
  • Skillful in running effective and efficient meetings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experienced with DeltaV and DeltaV SIS product development highly preferred, but with other distributed control system (DCS) automation and safety systems acceptable.
  • Formal training in project management and/or project management certification (PMP) preferred.
