Responsible for the Operational Excellence function and execution of all programs and initiatives to help build a culture of Design for Six Sigma principles across the site as aligned to key strategic goals; includes the implementation of Zimmer Biomet Operating System (ZBOS) and delivering finance and performance commitments. This role is hands on and directly accountable for business results. Requires the ability to contribute as both a leader and individual contributor across design projects.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and deploy strategic design initiatives applicable across global segments, functions, and regions. Work with leaders in these areas to develop key strategies of operational excellence aligned against business objectives. Create environment to drive key business results by leading complex projects and acting as a change agent of continuous improvement. Participate in the development of new products or processes to anticipate efficiencies and productivity design. Responsible for coaching and developing site OpEx managers and site leaders to strengthen their CI methodologies, knowledge, and skills. Establish governance, standards, measurement, and reporting processes, as needed for critical success indicators at their BUs /Regions. Build the Operational Excellence infrastructure needed to integrate all business excellence and CI methodologies into the culture of the entire organization. Responsible for the planning and delivery of the organizations DFSS Training. Perform related duties as required.

Expected Areas of Competence

Broad business knowledge and ability to link customer needs with both quality and broader business processes. Ability to apply, teach and coach statistical analysis for the Design Community to such tasks as basic descriptive statistics, graphical analysis, quality tools, and reliability. Evidence of successful implementation of DFSS projects resulting in improved performance and quality. Solid planning, organizational and project management skills with the ability to multi-task and assimilate new information quickly and balance priorities Strong knowledge and experience applying problem solving tools. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport across the company while quickly and confidently gaining respect of others, including superior listening and probing skills. Strong coaching, influencing, facilitation and organizational skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills to all levels of the organization, essential for the variety of roles this position requires: trainer, coach, and mentor. An understanding of and proficiency in Change Management. Advanced skills in MS Office and statistical software packages (Minitab, VISIO, etc.)

Education/Experience Requirements

Bachelors degree (Masters degree preferred) in Engineering, or related field with DFSS certification required. 6-8 years related Design experience within medical device or regulated industry required

Travel Requirements

This position requires travel both U.S. domestically and internationally. Travel up to 20%.
