Machine Implantables, Capital & Disposables (MICD) is hiring Prin. Product Engineer to join the Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VAVE) team. Positions location: Medtronic Louisville, CO facility.

A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Apply Value Analysis and Value Engineering methodology across the MICD product portfolio with the intent to enhance the economic value of the product design.
  • Expected to host events, provide analysis of economic value, work through budget and resource requirements, and charter projects from concept through execution and closure.
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams that include specialists from Manufacturing, Regulatory Affairs, Product Development, Sourcing, and Finance to identify systemic cost reduction opportunities.
  • Work within the confined of site level Released Product Management (RPM) process. Provide stakeholders with timely updates on project status and performance vs. goals
  • Responsible for providing leadership and technical support for projects that analyze existing and new products to identify, plan, and implement changes that reduce systemic costs and increase the economic value of medical devices.
  • Perform detailed analyses that confirm technical feasibility and validate the cost-savings potential of change-proposals while ensuring quality-system compliance.
  • Strong understanding of Master Validation, including Validation Master Planning, Installation Qualification, Operational Qualification, and Performance Qualification.
  • Develop and present change- proposals that include technical descriptions, preliminary risk profile, estimates of cost-savings, resource requirements and key implementation milestones.
  • Prepare project business case in support of proposed changes, which include evaluations against traditional business metrics such as NPV and ROI, and deliver to management and other stakeholders.
  • Engage stakeholders at multiple facilities to keep abreast of changing priorities within the opportunity landscape.
  • Working knowledge of the functional interaction required between the product development, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and finance functions to achieve cost reductions
  • Responsible for production support engineering with respect to testing methods, procedures, and problems; device specification and yield problems; minor redesign of devices and masks; analysis of customer returns; supplier related engineering changes and optimizing device production relative to cost constraints.
  • Assumes responsibility for device and/or internally produced or externally purchased components after transfer into high-volume production and usually responsible for entire device manufacturing operations other than wafer fabrication.
  • May assist customer in device usage problems or customer testing of complex devices.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

Nice to Have
  • Preferred degrees include Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a similar related engineering or science field.
  • Advance degree preferred.
  • Previous work in a highly regulated environment such as Medical or Aerospace.
  • Previous work experience with Value Analysis and Value Engineering.
  • PMP Certification, or previous work experience with Project Management.
  • DRM Green Belt Certification in Lean Six-Sigma or DRM or similar certifications.
