Principal Digital Project Engineer - Multiple Locations Available
This Regional Digital Project Engineering Role will be a part of the MW NA Regional Engineering Controls & IT Team. The individual in this role will be responsible for defining and managing implementation scope, schedule, resources, dependencies, issues, risks, and stakeholders' communication for digital projects, in particular Digital Twin, along with significant involvement in digital strategy development for the North American Region. This role can sit at any of the following facilities: Yorkville, IL, Gainesville, GA, Hackettstown, NJ or Topeka, KS.

The scope of the role includes leading projects in the areas of Digital Plant Technology systems, which includes electrical, controls, digital, CVS, and value tracking. The role owns the overall leadership of digital projects via the MWC Engineering Execution Standard. The role will be specifically responsible for the roll-out of the Digital Twin Roadmap for the North American Region.

Additionally, this role will be the technical leader for the Digital projects execution and will support, mentor, and coach other Implementation Leads, and play a coordination role across projects to ensure maximum chance of success and to effectively leverage local, regional, and global resources.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Digital Technology related fields ; an advanced degree is a plus. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years' experience in a comparable technical position - food, beverage, pharmaceutical or related industry preferable
  • 2+ years' experience with Digital Twin Technologies
  • Proven ability to lead teams
  • Track record of using data and metrics to design strategies, identify and implement Improvements
  • Understanding of process and packaging applications
  • Understanding of digital technologies
  • Good communication, listening and influencing skills
  • Able to work collaboratively with other groups
  • Approximately 20-50% travel requirement depending on project demands

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Coordinate implementation of Digital projects, mainly Digital Twin technologies, across North American Region.
  • Provide innovative engineering solutions to MWNA sites that drive accelerated improvement in TRS, PCC Costs, Safety, Quality, and Customer Service Levels.
  • Coordinate resources across local (Site), region, and globe to accelerate the North American Digital Twin Roadmap.
  • Organize & Manage the Digital Factory Program

  • Perform Site Assessments
  • Design OT Integration & Managing Survey

Advance Digital Maturity across the North American region by:

  • Developing industry and product specific relevant technical skills
  • Socializing and coaching the wider MAKE team on potential use cases for digital tools
  • Motivate fellow associates by introducing high quality solutions that protect the integrity of our product
  • Developing a User-Centric digital culture. (Ensuring digital projects & tools are fit for purpose and work for the end user)
  • Owns the vision and long-term strategy of a range of digital products n the space of Digital Twin ensuring It meets the global manufacturing digitalization strategy


  • Ensure delivery of assigned objectives for scope, time, budget, cash flow, and value creation
  • Maintain the project adherence to scope, deliverables, and critical success factors
  • Communicate with the digital project steering team to ensure project objectives are achieved
  • Seek and apply appropriate technology to gain and sustain technical competitive advantage
  • Seek and support lean ways of working and apply lean principles in the engineering process and as a project deliverable
  • Understand and make decisions to improve business measurements such as Economic Profit (EP), etc.
  • Understand the impact and value creation of digital technologies in the manufacturing site
  • Responsible for delivering the business outcomes and determine ways to discover and validate real customer and business value, based on success criteria
  • Is the connector between the business teams and the DT Teams


  • Continuously improve technical knowledge
  • Depending on project parameters, personally design systems and select hardware, or direct third-party engineering firms providing design services to meet their contract deliverables
  • Continuously improve personal efficiency and performance to provide value added engineering
  • Partner with the Value Stream leadership to supervise all commissioning, validation, and start-up activities for digital projects. Additionally, work according to Global CVS best practices, change management processes, and manage the handover process for the project.
  • Provide advanced problem-solving analysis and resolution, data tracking to identify continuous improvement opportunities, and coordinate training.
  • Support safety and security policies
  • Contribute innovative ideas to provide competitive advantage
  • Identify, protect and expand intellectual property of corporation
  • Ensure the successful deployment of the new capability
  • Partner with Mars DT to ensure successful Digital Twin systems upgrades
  • Organize and coordinate the E2E testing, the knowledge transfer, the communication to achieve a successful end user adoption of the change
  • Govern & maintain process documentation of their products
  • Train operators on the business process changes driven by Digital Twin products
  • Support Core training material and job aids development


  • Support project objectives and challenge activities not aligned with those objectives
  • Directly manage all assigned project work
