Job Description

Manulife Investment Management, Private Markets is a US$115 billion dollar and growing business unit within Manulife Investment Management that develops and sells our private asset investment capabilities to institutional and retail clients globally. Private Markets investment expertise includes private equity and private credit, real estate equity and debt, infrastructure equity and debt, timber and agriculture, and other private debt strategies.

The Private Markets Global Distribution Management Group has a critical role in driving the growth strategy across the Private Markets and the overall Global Wealth and Asset Management organization. To ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the specialist and generalist distribution teams, the team facilitates all fundraising efforts working closely with distribution and investment teams globally to effectively promote Private Markets products.

Manulife's Infrastructure Investment Team manages over US$10.3 billion AUM in infrastructure equity for Manulife's General Account U.S./Canadian/Asian balance sheets, as well as US$2.7 billion AUM across third party equity funds.

Reporting to the Global Head of Distributions Services, the Infrastructure Product Specialist will be working directly with the Infrastructure Investment Team and will be responsible for supporting the growth of the Infrastructure Equity platform. The Product Specialist is expected to take ownership of all Infrastructure Equity materials and ensure accuracy for internal and external audiences. This includes refining existing processes to liaise with various teams within the Infrastructure Equity organization to gather, validate, and report information. The variety of work and exposure to the various functional teams will enable the Specialist to gain insight to all areas of the Infrastructure business from a strategic level to a detailed investment level. The Specialist will be joining the business at a critical juncture of rapid growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Global distribution partner and key resource for strategy/product specific information
    • Work closely with the Head of Infrastructure Investor Relations, Infrastructure Equity COO and CFO, Investment Teams, and other functional areas to act as gatekeeper for all infrastructure data and materials
    • Own all infrastructure equity marketing materials including one-pagers, presentation decks and other ad-hoc materials relevant to fundraising; ensure product material is produced to a high standard, and help lead content creation for new collateral
    • Develop a detailed understanding of the asset classes and our competitive advantage to inform competitive analysis and/or product differentiation strategies
    • Become an expert on market and industry trends; provide regular updates on market and portfolio performance, as well as portfolio investment strategy, for distribution to existing clients
    • Provide specialist content that supports all business development activities including RFPs, questionnaires, databases, and any other client inquiries
  • Support various aspects of the Infrastructure Investment team's client service efforts
    • Manage quarterly updates to portfolio review and marketing presentation materials, including coordination with reporting and valuation teams on updating track record and other information, and managing the compliance review process
    • Assist with the organization of and preparation of Fund events including participating in the planning and preparation for the annual meeting, limited partner lunches, dinners, receptions, and other such events the team may plan from time to time
  • Assist with the syndication of co-investment opportunities to the limited partners in the fund as needed. This includes managing documentation flow and data rooms, coordinating meetings and calls, and managing post-closing information flow and requests in coordination with members of the investment, legal, and accounting teams
  • Respond to various ad-hoc requests from marketing, sales, relationship management and portfolio management teams for content creation including visuals and written materials
  • Manage multiple special projects relating to client service, marketing, record keeping, compliance, and other such areas that may arise over time
  • Collaborate and manage relationships with product development, portfolio management, operations, client service, legal and compliance teams and marketing among others
  • Manage operational processes to improve efficiency in facilitating responses and approvals for client materials
  • Strive to be an ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) Policy matter expert within the team, as this topic becomes more relevant to investors
  • Develop and deliver effective presentations to key stakeholders

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Preferably in business, finance, economics, accounting or related discipline. CFA or CAIA designation preferred
  • 4-6 years of relevant work experience including direct client service and marketing support responsibility. Institutional knowledge and experience with alternative asset classes preferred
  • Understanding of the infrastructure equity industry, limited partner client service expectations, and the infrastructure equity fund marketing process preferred
  • Experience working with consultants and engaging in the RFP questionnaire response process
  • Superior Excel skills required, including pivot tables, macros, formatting, and data manipulation
  • Strong Word and PowerPoint skills
