Job Purpose:

To drive continuous improvement and innovation in the packaging work areas with the goal of maximizing safety, food safety, efficiency and waste.

Context and Scope:

Royal Canin Lebanon celebrates its 2nd year in the RC network in 2019. It is the newest Royal Canin plant in the U.S.A. It has a long lasting reputation for being a very high performing plant. Royal Canin seeks to continuously improve its products and its business operations. These improvements have to be identified and executed while maintaining current production levels and keeping the associates and product safe. The plant is a very fast paced and demanding environment with continuously changing priorities.
These improvements are focused on the areas of equipment utilization, waste generation, product performance, human safety, and food safety. The Process & Product Implementation Technician (PPI Tech) will complete all relevant documentation required by Mars safety, quality and food safety, and ISO change management.

The PPI Tech acts as the expert on how the equipment and process is supposed to function when communicating to stakeholders outside of the Process and Pack team. They will participate in teams to identify root cause in non-conforming products and implement ways to improve the product. They will also participate in troubleshooting teams for critical equipment breakdowns and help schedule the proper preventive maintenance associated with the equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in safety projects to reduce risk to associates.

  • Facilitate new product implementations as assigned by Central R&D.

  • Investigate waste generation causes and propose/execute solutions to reduce them.

  • Assess equipment utilization with cross functional teams to increase plant productivity.

  • Identify the need for and implement continuous improvement projects

  • Create standard operating conditions for each product (processing and packaging)

  • Coordinate all PPI tasks to support R&D strategies for growth, quality and efficiency

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma required

  • Minimum of 2+ years of work/co-op experience in processing/manufacturing

  • Demonstrated continuous improvement/TPM experience with suggesting improvements and obtaining measurable results.

  • Ability to use simple tools and do small mechanical jobs

  • Ability to influence without authority

  • Must be able to work collaborative with cross-functional partners and upper management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or advanced degree in Engineering or related field is preferred

  • Experience working in a food/drink manufacturing environment with knowledge of FDA regulations and/or working in some other regulated type environment

  • Project management experience
