Georgia Pacifics Building Products is looking for innovative and motivated Process Control Engineers to be a part of building our new Digital Process Optimization team. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part in the creation of a new capability, with the ability to significantly impact our operations across the country.

As a Process Controls Engineer on the BP DPO Team you will be expected to:

  • Work closely with the central DPO teams to drive manufacturing data standardization and governance to include:

    • Creation/documentation of DPO standards and sustainability processes

    • Development of data strategies to address completeness, content, and context

    • Participation in identification of key metrics by manufacturing asset

    • Coordinate efforts with various corporate data governance resources

    • Understand data requirements for analytical projects and remote site monitoring

    • Escalation point for data problems

    • Host knowledge shares with process controls resources

    • Ensure standards/governance sustainability

  • Research, selection, and installation coordination of instrumentation to close data gaps

  • Design PLC architecture to accommodate additional instrumentation and IOT devices

  • Develop SME capabilities in Ignition data streaming architecture

  • Develop SME capabilities in required OSI software (PI, AssetFrame work, Event Frames, etc.)

  • Stay up to date with innovative technology differentiating between hype and true value with the technical knowledge to operationalize.

  • Create process control system upgrade road maps

  • Provide advanced PLC and HMI Scada support

LOCATION: ATLANTA, GA PREFERRED OR REMOTE




A Day In The Life Typically Includes:



A strong performer in this role will effectively apply our culture and MBM management philosophy to:


  • Interface between analytics, engineering, and operations resources

  • Provide updates to executive leaders

  • Attend trade-shows or vendor demonstrations to identify new technical opportunities

  • Share best practices and standards across the Manufacturing Operations and IT community

  • Deliver division and/or site level support for PLC/HMI systems

  • Travel, approx. 50%, to participate in field work at manufacturing sites

  • Stay informed with data challenges and required mitigations

  • Work independently or as part of a team to create and execute DPO strategies



What You Will Need:




Basic Qualifications:





  • At least 3 years of experience working with process control systems

  • Experience developing/commissioning Rockwell ControlLogix/Compact Logix PLCs

  • Willing to travel up to 50% of the time



What Will Put You Ahead?



Preferred Qualifications:
  • Development of Wonderware, GE iFix, or FactoryTalk View Client/Server SCADA systems

  • Experience supporting a manufacturing environment

  • System integration from concept to production

  • Working knowledge of IT technology (I.E.- Firewalls, Server OSs, Client OSs, networking, patching, anti-virus)

  • Experience working in a consultative and cooperative manner with multiple stakeholders, such as analytics, corporate engineering, site process control engineers, and IT resources.
