The Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team selects, develops and optimizes manufacturing processes for our market-leading portfolio of innovations. The team drives Design for Manufacturability into our products during the development process and ensures highly robust processes are transferred to the manufacturing network.

A Day in the Life

As a Process Development Engineer II on the AME team, you will be a key contributor in new product development activities, with specific responsibility for developing robust and highly capable manufacturing processes. As an individual contributor, you will provide solutions to complex technical problems using robust problem-solving techniques. You will be involved in process innovation with emphasis on improving quality, reducing process variation, reducing cycle time and cost down initiatives. Work may be completed individually or as part of a larger Process Development team.

Additional activities/responsibilities may include:

  • Design manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
  • Design arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
  • Develop and executes Process Qualification via IQ, OQ, PQ, pFMEA, MSA, TMV
  • Use of software tools: MS Excel, Word, Power Point Project, Minitab, JMP or equivalent,
  • Use of Six Sigma, Lean, DMAIC, DRM principles to provide robust solutions
  • Design of Experiments (DOE) for process characterization and analysis
  • Design sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
  • Incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
  • Assess performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
  • Provide guidance to design teams regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with Quality System Requirements.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience

Nice to Have

  • Process Engineering and / or Process Development Experience, preferred in a medical device manufacturing industry
  • Solid understanding of statistical techniques and analysis
  • Experience with catheter, stent, or other medical device manufacturing methods
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
  • Understanding and knowledge of relevant regulations and standards FDA QSR, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, MDD
  • Experience in a Medical Device (or other regulated) manufacturing environment
  • Six Sigma (DRM-DFSS) Green/Black Belt skills and experience
  • MS Office proficiency, experience with PDM/PLM systems
