Description

As a Product Planner, you will serve as the preliminary point of contact for your assigned product platform(s). You will facilitate understanding of the customer's current and future product and project portfolio and lead internal prioritization of projects for the customer's benefit. In addition, you will lead internal cross-functional teams to execute new product development and cost reduction projects.

Responsibilities
  • Product and Portfolio Management
    • Maintain a holistic view of all customer projects and lead the internal organization in prioritizing projects based on customer and internal needs and resources
    • Understand, coordinate, and communicate customer specifications for new product programs accounting for limitations, competitive differentiation, and scope management
    • Present regular portfolio and project updates both internally and externally to senior management groups and other stakeholders
    • Serve as the marketing lead for all NPD projects in your customer portfolio
  • Account Management
    • Serve as the preliminary point of contact for the customer for all products and projects in the portfolio
    • Provide ongoing support when customers or internal disciplines have questions or need information on product cost, structure, content, volume, capacity, manufacturing processes, etc.
    • Host or participate in quarterly product portfolio meetings with the customer
  • Project Manager for New Product Development projects
    • Ensure compliance to and lead NPD Phase Gate Process by following Emerson's Gate Review Process
    • Define NPD project scope and schedule, communicate resource needs, develop & monitor project budget, prepare appropriation requests (ARs), and document lessons learned
    • Employ lean project management tools/processes to achieve and improve development schedules


Requirements
  • Minimum achievement of a Bachelor's degree
  • 3-5 years in a business role
  • demonstrated effective team leadership working cross-functionally
  • Ability to create and use quantitative analysis, spreadsheet/database tools, project management software, etc. to assist in planning and decision making
  • Strong communication skills
