An Instrument Identification Technician at Medline ReNewal is responsible for the creation of production work orders and all associated documentation for each order of invasive medical devices in the Redmond, Oregon facility. All work performed must comply with Medline ReNewal's standard operating procedures as well as FDA guidelines to ensure patient safety. Instrument ID Technicians must have a vast knowledge of medical devices and the ability to identify them both quickly and accurately.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Compare documentation (photo, computer, paper forms) of the devices in each customer order to confirm accuracy
  • Sort devices by device category (i.e. shavers, saw blades, etc.)
  • Inspect device for markings that indicate prior reprocessing to ensure ability to reprocess
  • Create the production work order by locating the customer's business name/order number in the computerized work order tracking system and finalizing the list of devices to be reprocessed, rejecting devices that are unable to be reprocessed, providing counts of devices that are to be reprocessed, and finalizing the work order for the refurbishment team
  • Confirm final device counts and reference numbers are accurate according to work order and print all associated documentation for the next step in the reprocessing process
  • Assist other departments as needed to ensure production output meets or exceeds goals
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications
  • Communicate in basic English with management and co-workers (Speak and advanced reading ability required)
  • Must be able to use a computer to locate information and print reports

Mental, Physical, Emotional Demands:

  • Stand or stand in place (or combination) for 8 hour shift with appropriate meal and rest breaks
  • Work in a small room with racks, tables and limited room for movement
  • Lift, push, or pull batches of devices up to 40 lbs. up to 40 times a day, lighter loads more frequently
  • Perform repetitive tasks, some of which are small motion tasks through the entire shift
  • Focused and detail oriented to be able to work with sharp devices
  • Must be a fast thinker with excellent memory to identify various types of surgical devices

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred

Certification / Licensure:

  • NCRC Silver Certification or better
