Georgia Pacific's gypsum mill in McQueeney, TX is seeking talented supervisors for Production Team Leader positions.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead a production team to injury and incident-free performance in a continuous manufacturing environment; consistent with our MBM management philosophy and framework. To supervise/coordinate production efforts that result in sustained improvement in all associated work processes including: Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) compliance, reliability, quality, production and cost. Align and optimize the operation to delivering maximum value to the business.

Facilitate team and employee development, problem-solving and resolution. Build employee commitment and ownership. Hold employees accountable, anddevelop a culture in which employees are empowered and responsible.


GENERAL TASKS:
Lead an operations team of up to 15 members in the production of world-class goods in a safe and efficient manner. Promote employee involvement. Provide coaching, feedback and direction to production associates as required. Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, provide training and facilitate team development for production associates. Complete all paperwork and analysis in a timely and efficient manner. Contribute to the McQueeney Plant exceeding site goals including EHS, productivity, quality, and cost.


ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITY:
Position reports to the Production Superintendent.


CONTACTS / INTERFACES:
Must maintain proper communications with management, coworkers and subordinates, while also focusing on customer needs.

Will interact with key operations personnel such as the Plant Manager, Maintenance Manager, Human Resources Manager, Safety Manager, Environmental Manager, Quality Manager, maintenance and production associates at all levels of the organization.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 2 years supervisor experience in an industrial, manufacturing or military environment
  • Experience coaching, counseling and developing employees
  • Must have a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, and the ability to learn various PC-based production reporting applications
  • Must be able and willing to work anassigned rotating shift schedule, which will include day, night, weekend and holiday work hours. Shift schedule might change during employment
  • Must make working safely the top priority, follow all plant safety policies, and enforce safe work practices
  • Must be able and willing to work in a manufacturing plant environment, including extended periods of time in noisy, dusty, non-air conditioned or unheated areas

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
  • Bachelors Degree in a technical or business discipline
  • Fluent speaking English and Spanish (English is the primary language spoken while at work)
  • Gypsum or Building Products manufacturing experience
