Position Summary

Stevens Institute of Technology (Stevens) seeks a visionary and accomplished academic and administrative leader as the Chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME). The next BME Chair will report to the Dean of the Charles V. Schaefer, Jr. School of Engineering & Science (SES) and will work closely with Stevens leadership as the Institute continues to increase its impact and to fulfill its vision of being a world-class, student-centric research university. Exceptionally qualified individuals may also be considered for an Endowed Chair position.

Department of Biomedical Engineering

Biomedical Engineering is one of the nine departments in SES, which is the largest school among four schools/college at Stevens. Stevens is a student-centric research university with a major initiative in healthcare research. The Biomedical Engineering program is central to this initiative. BME has an ABET-accredited undergraduate program, as well as masters and doctoral level graduate programs, with approximately 250 students in total. The program is poised for significant growth at all levels of education and research. The BME Department is dedicated to supporting hands-on learning, research, and development of an entrepreneurial mindset that provides each student with invaluable, experiential knowledge.

An earned doctorate and a record of distinguished scholarship and teaching appropriate for appointment as a tenured full professor;

An excellent command of the English language.

In addition, experience is required to demonstrate successful academic administration, research, and graduate and undergraduate teaching.
