Who We Are Looking For:

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Industrial Waste Treatment team. The successful candidate will be a motivated, growth-oriented professional with the ability to work independently as well as lead multi-disciplined project teams. While executing projects, there is an expectation that you will mentor junior staff and will be responsible for directly supporting clients.

The selected candidate will be responsible for engineering support on industrial water and wastewater projects. This position will have an opportunity to collaborate with a team of highly experienced senior engineers and project managers. The ideal candidate is an engineer with strong technical capability and communication skills to support studies, planning, design, and construction of industrial wastewater treatment systems. Expertise in a broad range of engineering associated with wastewater treatment, including physical, chemical, and biological treatment processes/technologies, hydraulics, piping, pumping and other mechanical systems is preferred. Candidate will support the Industrial Waste Treatment team on multiple projects within the US and abroad for industries such as pharmaceutical, food and beverage, pulp and paper, chemical, metals, and others.

What You Will Be Doing At Woodard & Curran:

  • Industrial water and wastewater service/subject matter areas: strategic planning, water and wastewater characterization/basis of design, conceptual alternatives evaluation/feasibility studies, treatability testing, process definition, full-scale water and wastewater system performance evaluations/troubleshooting, and water and wastewater treatment residuals management.
  • In collaboration with Woodard & Curran personnel, assisting in developing material balances, process design basis documents, hydraulic and wastewater process simulation models and calculations, process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment arrangement drawings and other design deliverables. Size and specify water/wastewater process and mechanical equipment.
  • Conducting site evaluations to gather field data; preparing and interpreting drawings.
  • Performing detailed engineering design including preparing project specifications, drawing packages, and equipment schedules.
  • Meeting with client representatives, contractors, other engineering design firms, and plant personnel concerning project execution.
  • Coordination of other project discipline tasks while working within project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Making decisions independently on engineering problems and methods.
  • Mentoring and directing staff on technical assignments, and reviewing technical work completed by engineers under supervision.
  • This position regularly requires travel to client sites with overnight stays to support project kickoff events and site evaluations, engineering design reviews, construction oversight, as well as startup and commissioning efforts.

What You Will Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Chemical Engineering. Masters degree preferred.
  • 5-10 years engineering experience in wastewater treatment planning, evaluation, and design.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD software.
  • Professional Engineering Licensure strongly preferred.
