Pulp Mill & Woodyard Supervisor

The Pulp Mill Supervisor provides front line leadership to ensure environmental and safety excellence. Responsibilities include management of the following process areas: Chip Unloading and Reclaim Systems, Digesters, Lime Kiln and Recausticizing Area, Brownstock Washing and Bleaching Plants, and ClO2 Generating Plant.

Shift performance while operating these unit operations is the responsibility of the supervisor.


  • Those responsibilities will encompass: Leading and developing safe behaviors, applying and teaching the MBM philosophy, eliminating waste, improving yield, and producing high quality pulp.

  • The Pulp Mill & Woodyard are 24/7 operations. Time spent beyond normal shift rotation will be required during outages, and while building teams and systems within the Pulp Mill and Woodyard.



A Day In The Life Typically Includes:




  • Must coach employees on setting and updating roles, responsibilities, and expectations.

  • Must be able to use performance management as a tool to improve skill and capabilities of their employees. Should be able to define gaps in performance and execute annual evaluations for timely and disciplined improvement to close gaps.

  • Strong leadership and intrapersonal communication skills. Should have the capability to motivate teams to exceed expectations and challenge effectively.

  • Work in a cooperative and collaborative manner with other depts.

  • Ability to learn root cause analysis techniques and problem solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and demonstrate a sense of urgency and accountability.



What You Will Need:



Basic Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in paper mill operations

  • Minimum of 1 year supervisory experience

  • Ability to workrotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Access database creation/tracking and reporting, Excel sorting data and creating tables, Outlook scheduling, Word document creation/editing and PowerPoint presentation creation/editing).



What Will Put You Ahead?



Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a Pulp Mill or Woodyard operating environment

  • Previous experience working in a unionized environment
