**Job Description:**



The Quantitative Finance Analyst role sits within the Model Performance team, which is part of the broader Global Risk Analytics function at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. The remit of the team is to assess the performance of models used to quantify market (in particular Value-at-Risk) and counterparty credit risks used for risk limits and capital. The team works closely with risk managers, model developers, Market Risk Portfolio and Finance teams, striving to enhance model performance. Further, the team is responsible for general quantitative support in connection with trade support, trading platform migrations and other system changes.



**Role Description:**



+ Assess the performance of market and counterparty credit risk models through backtests, sensitivity analyses, risk factor simulations and various analytical approaches.

+ Support the VaR backtesting platform, including investigation and resolution of system issues and provide reports and quantitative support to key stakeholders.

+ Improvements to model development infrastructure through automation work, development of utilities, and enhanced visualization tools.



**Qualifications:**



+ Masters degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or a related field and experience working in quantitative modelling on fixed income or commodity products on behalf of a global financial institution.

+ 3+ years of industry related & applicable work experience (a combination of Big 4 and industry experience acceptable).



**Skills:**



+ Experience with mathematically sophisticated financial modelling, preferably experienced with Value-at-Risk, PE95, and other market and counterparty credit risk metrics.

+ Ability to express technical concepts clearly in written and spoken English

+ Programming skills: key languages are C++ and Python; a solid understanding of sound software development principles

+ Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and developments, a commercial instinct, and an understanding of sound risk management principles.

+ Good written and oral communication, interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with personnel across areas and regions

+ Ability to multitask with excellent time management skills

+ Sense of focus and rigor in the completion of deliverable
