Demonstration of advanced Microsoft Excel and Access skills and basic Project Management skills required.

Provide internal and external underwriting customers service and relationship management, first line of support, desktop technology support.

  • Understand and protect the financial health of the company by making sound business recommendations.
  • Provide support in explaining the components of rate changes to internal and external stakeholders (customers, sales, agents, consultants and employer groups).
  • Develop tools or models that can be utilized to validate renewal rates and associated packaging is correct and ensuring quality in rate releases.
  • Execute rate testing across various quoting platforms as part of the quarterly rate release process. Ensure that underwriting edits are applied correctly within automated tools.
  • Research and respond to rate-related inquiries from sales or managing agents. Coordinate updates with downstream areas like billing and accounts receivable.
  • Apply underwriting and rating policies when reviewing exception requests and prepare recommendations to leaders that include financial and operational impacts.
  • Identify and/or analyze rating issues and devise solutions to the problems.
  • Generate ad-hoc reports, analyze data and prepare summary reports regarding rating tool usage.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's Degree with a major in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or related field required.

  • Two (2) or more years in an underwriting, actuarial or data analytical position required.

  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare summary reports required.

  • Strong understanding of mathematics principals and their practical applications required.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.

  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to handle multiple tasks and timelines.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint required. MS Access & Visual Basic required

  • Knowledge of rating systems and mainframe applications required

  • Knowledge of sales distribution channel required.

  • Knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulations related to health care delivery systems (HMO, PPO, ACO, etc.) required.
