Georgia-Pacifics Consumer Products Group is seeking qualified professionals to consider for our Recovery Area Manufacturing Engineer to have leadership responsibility for the safe and environmentally compliant operation of a Kraft recovery process including 2 Recovery Boilers, 3 Evaporator Sets, and a high solids concentrator within our Port Hudson consumer products manufacturing operation located in Zachary, LA.




A Day In The Life Typically Includes:



  • Ensure adherence and compliance with corporate policies and governmental requirements relative to the operation and maintenance of pressure vessels and boilers.

  • Provide leadership to meet/exceed key operating excellence in safety, environmental compliance, reliability, production and cost; while instilling a strong safety and environmental compliance culture among all area members.

  • Motivate and develop a team of salaried and hourly employees to continuously improve area performance and business management.

  • Investigate, recommend, and implement new equipment or process changes and/or modifications that will improve operations, productivity, and reduce costs.

  • Partner with area maintenance planners for proper maintenance and upkeep of area equipment.

  • Use Reliability concepts (i.e. root cause failure analysis, operator basic care) and critical thinking skills to effectively troubleshoot and solve complex operating issues. Facilitate reliability strategy for the area. The area reliability engineer will report to this position.

  • Partner with the department Capability Leader and Shift Performance Coaches to advance training programs (safety, compliance, and operating) & employee skill for all employees in the Recovery area.

  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement efforts.

  • Develop vendor and supplier relationships to successfully manage our business through cost control and benchmarking.

  • Maintain necessary area records and reports; follow up and delegate as needed for all significant problems.

  • Regularly communicate, articulate, and direct Recovery Area priorities to achieve mill and company visions.

What You Will Need:


Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelors Degree or higher in Engineering or Manufacturing

  • Experience with the management of boilers

  • Experience working with Kraft recovery process (recovery boilers, kilns, causticizing), electrical power generation, and waste water treatment

  • 3 or more years of experience within utilities segment within a manufacturing operation.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs such as Word (to write business correspondence), Excel (for use of spreadsheets, reporting, simple formulas) and Outlook (for internal and external correspondence)

What Will Put You Ahead?



Preferred Qualifications:


  • 5 or more years of experience within a utilities segment within a manufacturing operation

  • 3 or more years of experience as a supervisor with responsibility for direct reports

  • Experience working with root cause failure analysis
