This position will cover accounts throughout the state of Wisconsin.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm. Some nights and weekends required. Some (occasional) overnight travel required (sales meetings).

Position Summary

The Regional Account Executive will be responsible for managing business results, sales activities, and cross-functional initiatives in their respective territory. Hunting and closing new business through account acquisition is a must while making the day-to-day decisions required to manage a productive territory and retain the existing customer base of business. The incumbent is expected to forge and cultivate ongoing relationships with key decision makers to ensure goal attainment. He/She will be responsible for a positive ROI within their specified territory, owning their assigned call points

Furthermore, the Regional Account Executive should be a high energy, charismatic leader who is strategically oriented, highly ethical, possess a strong executive presence, and have excellent presentation skills. The Regional Account Executive reports directly to the Regional Sales Director.

Position Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not necessarily limited to the following:

  • Introduces and secures new business, and increases existing business, for GeneDx.
  • Partnering and problem-solving with all call points in the assigned territory, through consultative selling, education, and serving as the "first line" of account management for physicians, genetic counselors and their staff.
  • Accountable for lead generation, achieving territory-specific sales objectives, and providing service in an assigned territory.
  • Prospects and establishes new physicians and genetic counselors
  • Promotes GeneDx services consultatively, determines customer needs and requirements and makes recommendations to physicians and genetic counselors of the various solutions GeneDx can offer them.
  • Coordinates with operations to ensure consistent follow up and timely issue resolutions.
  • Implements agreed upon sales and marketing plans and actively supports development events such as physician dinners and special events.
  • Engage with physicians and genetic counselors within a defined territory to build trust and credibility for the purpose of securing net new business and increasing existing base business.
  • Interfaces with physicians, genetic counselors and their staff to improve communication and understanding of the needs and wants of the practices and its patients.
  • Facilitates meetings, educational and promotional events such as "lunch and learns," dinners, CME sponsored events, etc.
  • Maintains accurate and consistent up-to-date records
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (required vs preferred)


  • BS/BA in Life Sciences, Marketing, Business
  • 3-5 years of successful sales experience in a relevant industry/commercial environment
  • Must have a clean, valid Driver License and a personal vehicle to use for work on a daily basis
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Experience within complex selling environments
  • Comprehensive understanding and experience with various industry trends, market segments and regional market trends
  • Must be willing and able to travel within the assigned territory (approximately 50-60% travel)
  • Ability to maintain and pursue strong knowledge of all GeneDx Products
  • Focuses on outcomes with clear measures and metrics
  • Interpersonal flexibility to effectively interact with clients and internal and external teams
  • Ability to leverage cross-functional relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals and objectives
  • Advanced written, oral communication skills and business acumen a necessity
  • Strong administrative skills. Sophistication to manage business in complex environments.
  • Knowledge and application of strategic planning, development of sales strategy and tactical implementation within specified territory
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SalesForce


  • Genomics and Genetic Diagnostic experience strongly preferred
  • Experience selling Oncology, Cardiology, Neurology, WES or WGS genetic based tests and services to children's hospitals, large academic centers, and hospital systems is highly desired
