The Regional Category Manager (RCM) is a highly visible leadership role that requires frequent interaction with senior leaders throughout the organization. The RCM is the market specialist who is responsible for the competitive purchasing performance of a group of Packaging categories. The key value of this role is to create leverage beyond those that business units or geographies could achieve as standalone entities. To deliver this, the role requires the ability to use the Strategic Sourcing Process to develop and execute step-change, cross-SBU, sourcing strategies to deliver cost savings.

The RCM should be curious and comfortable with challenging existing practices. He / She should be able to analyze internal needs and market dynamics. This with the aim of creating competitive benchmarking and compelling arguments for change. A key success factor for this role will be the ability of the RCM to engage and influence teams of individuals who do not report to them. In such, they should demonstrate strong networking skills and the ability to forge effective working relationships with both internal stakeholders and strategic suppliers.

Process orientated with strong organizational and analytical skills and with an attention to detail, the RCM should ensure the operational effectiveness of the suppliers within their portfolio. They should anticipate supply issues and proactively take contracting actions to protect PPG. The RCM should also institute appropriate service level agreements and drive continuous improvement of suppliers through structured performance management.

The scope include sub categories that are part of the Packaging segment.

• Deliver annual cost savings across managed categories in the region. This should be done through individual contribution, managing a visible pipeline and through ensuring the implementation of projects.
• Drive annual working capital improvement across the managed categories in the region. This should be done through payment term increase and/or consignment.
  
• Ensure the development of the Category Strategy following the Strategic Sourcing Process for at least 2 spend groups every year.
  
• Ensure a process that all contracts are tendered typically on a 3 year cycle. The process should secure all bid documentation and approvals are compliant.
  
• Evaluate the number of suppliers in the managed categories to determine the need to consolidate or develop additional options for an optimal supplier base. This should involve management of change and collaboration with local stakeholders.
  
• Implement service level agreements for key vendors every year. These should be reviewed monthly and actions taken to ensure continuous improvement
  
• Drive participation of suppliers within the PPG supplier $ave portal.
  
• Develop quarterly communication reviews with key region stakeholders. This should involve the review of upcoming change projects and an understanding of the forward business needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• A Bachelors degree in Engineering, business or supply chain related field of study
  
• Previous Category management, commercial sales, or negotiation experience preferred.
  
• Previous experience of establishing/monitoring performance agreements, contracts and resolving issues preferred
