The Impact Youll Make in this Role

As a Research Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Design and fabrication of OLED devices for use in developing 3M OLED enhancement product opportunities
  • Developing and implementing optical models of OLEDs, optical components, and display systems
  • Analyzing the optical and electronic properties of OLEDs to assess performance and operating characteristics
  • Developing improved automated testing equipment through the use of LabView, Python or other software programs

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

  • Possess a Masters degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Two (2) combined years (academic and/or industry) OLED experience in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Optics, Photonics, or related discipline
  • Experience with fabrication and testing of optoelectronic devices
  • Demonstrated experience in Display industry
  • Experience operating in cleanroom environments
  • OLED device fabrication or optical characterization experience
  • Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD), Rigorous Coupled Wave Analysis (RCWA) or other E&M modeling experience
  • Experience with the design or fabrication of diffractive optical elements, nanostructured surfaces, or metamaterials or metasurfaces

Travel: May include up to 15% domestic/international
