The Center for Antibody Therapeutics, within the Dept of Medicine Division of Infectious Diseases, is seeking a highly talented and innovative Ph.D. scientist to join our group for research on antibody engineering.

The successful candidate will lead the effort to develop novel therapeutic antibody candidates across multiple therapeutic areas such as oncology, immunology, infectious disease and neurosciences in our state-of-the-art research division. The candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate and work with top scientists in a world-ranked scientific environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible to develop novel tools and platforms to enable efficient screening and characterization of novel antibodies screened against multiple targets.

The qualified candidate should have a strong background in antibody/protein engineering, immunology and expertise in oncology area. The ideal candidate should have at least three years' experience in animal experiments.

Responsibilities are

1) Construct antibody libraries and characterize the antibodies screened with the combination of molecular modeling tools and in-depth understanding of the target biology.

2) Express and characterize these antibody molecules in vitro using biochemical and cell-based assays.

3) Develop cell-based functional assays using engineered cell lines and/or primary cells.

4) Monitor the workflow, identify any gaps and execute on the solutions to enhance the efficiency of the process.

Troubleshoot experiments with minimal guidance. Independently analyze data and provide accurate summary. Present data at group and inter-departmental meetings with scientific rigor. Develop in-depth scientific knowledge in area of research focus, propose new ideas and contribute to decisions on project direction intellectually. Collaboration with group members of diverse backgrounds.

A PhD in Immunology, Oncology, Molecular Biology, or a related field. Experience with writing and administering grants from internal and external sources preferred.

Experience with regulations and requirements related to the responsible conduct of research preferred.

3 years in animal research is preferred. Significant experience in antibody/protein engineering, library construction, antibody characterization based on biochemical and cell-based assays; significant experience in cell-based assay development and multi-color FACS analysis (above 8 colors) preferred.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, ability to work productively in an effective manner and collaborative manner. Broad knowledge and background in immunology is required.
