Town Bank is seeking interns for a summer internship beginning in May 2020. The intern program will run approximately 12 weeks. Interns will work in various retail branches across the Southern Wisconsin market.

Retail interns will be introduced to many different components of the teller line and personal banking department through completion of responsibilities/duties outlined below. The intern will work collaboratively with the Bank's Retail group to ensure understanding and completion of each of the responsibilities. The intern will have access to systems and will be required to use the information to facilitate completion of responsibilities. Interns will be provided with best practices specific to Lake Forest Bank & Trust at the onset of the internship and will be expected to operate on a day-to-day basis by those guidelines.

With access to the retail department and adequate training as well as a desire to listen, learn and work hard, the intern will be provided the tools necessary to successfully and independently complete the tasks outlined below giving the intern an in-depth view of the retail banking world.

Knowledge Gained

Customer Service

Requires intern to understand how to form long lasting relationships with customers to build trust and loyalty. Intern will learn how to overcome objections and handle irate customers as well as determine when it is appropriate to refer customers to other lines of business.

Teller Insight

Requires intern to know how to process deposits, withdrawals, cashier's checks, money orders, general ledger tickets and to balance a drawer. Intern will also learn to sell foreign currency and process cash advances. Intern will be exposed to CTR reporting and BSA requirements.

IBS Insight

Intern will learn how to open and maintain deposit accounts, through DO2 and SRM, while keeping in line with the policies and procedures set by Wintrust. Intern will develop understanding of the Regulations that govern retail banking.

CST

Intern will exposed to our digital tools, including: consumer online banking, bill pay, people pay and cardless cash. Intern will use systems and knowledge to troubleshoot customer issues. Intern will also attend one digital expert meeting in Rosemont.

CMSE

Intern will be responsible for an understanding of our card products. Intern will be able to provide instant issue debit cards as well as ordering cards for delivery. Intern will learn to address customer issues with rejections and when it is appropriate to request exceptions to limits. Intern will also reach out to customers when questionable transactions occur to determine whether there has been fraud.

Special Projects

Intern will be asked to assist with special projects as they arise.

  • Business or Sales Major preferred
  • Previous customer service or retail experience
  • A desire to learn about banking and potentially continue your career in the banking field post graduation
