About This Role:

Reporting to the assistant controller, the Revenue Staff Accountant is a member of Forrester's global revenue accounting team who is responsible for accurately recording consolidated revenue for all of Forrester's entities. This position is a key role within the finance organization and works closely with the revenue team to ensure worldwide revenue is compliant with accounting and reporting standards. In addition to revenue responsibilities, this role assists the US accounts receivable team and has cross-functional opportunities to partner with Forrester's sales and consulting organizations on various business processes that have a financial statement impact.

Responsibilities

  • Record daily cash activity for multiple Forrester entities.
  • Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts as part of the month-end close.
  • Calculate and prepare periodic sales tax returns.
  • Prepare journal entries and intercompany transactions.
  • Process contract changes and terminations, including revenue impact calculations.
  • Assist with the quarterly and annual external revenue audits.
  • Maintain customer account balances.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and develop process/system improvements that increase the revenue team's efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Work on cross-functional assignments and projects with billing, deal desk, tax, and other departments in the Forrester ecosystem.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • One to two years of accounting experience is preferred; however, recent college graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Someone who is interested in or is actively pursuing a CPA license is strongly preferred.
  • Computer proficiency, especially in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, initiative, effective oral and written communication, and the desire to learn.
  • Prior experience with Salesforce, PeopleSoft, and/or Vertex is a plus.
