Job Description

Job Summary: The Senior Buyer/Commodity Manager is the focal point for the development sourcing strategies to develop a world class supply base that will support manufacturing strategies and product roadmaps. The position will participate in and/or lead Global Procurement Commodity teams.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for procurement, negotiation and management of suppliers for complex procurements to satisfy business needs while complying with government, quality system and company policy requirements.
  • Conduct ERP analysis and planning through order placement and management including the following: analyze purchase requisitions; initiate RFQs/RFPs; review bids; select vendors; negotiate terms, conditions and pricing of material or services to be procured and issue/manage subsequent purchase orders.
  • Manage day to day supplier issues, maintain purchasing master data in ERP system and complete required documentation associated with government procurements.
  • Manage supplier evaluation process and address root cause and corrective action with suppliers who provide defective material.
  • Support on-time delivery and production productivity by maintaining an effective supply chain. Facilitate solutions to schedule changes and commercial/technical issues with suppliers.
  • Study and improve current processes to promote further efficiencies in purchasing procedures. Develop, implement, and manage commodity strategies. Drive continuous improvement in the supply chain's quality, delivery and cost processes including sourcing activities and inventory reduction.

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum ten years direct related experience.
  • Supply Chain Management discipline preferred.
  • APICS/CPM certification desired.
  • SAP MRP system experience desired.
  • Commodity experience with Machining, PCBA, cable assemblies or optics preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in developing commodity strategies.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Proficiency
