POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Corporate Buyer will be responsible for the establishment of strategic sourcing initiatives and their execution for assigned commodities.

Key aspects of the position will be domestic and global sourcing, standardization, improved quality performance, and reduced total cost of purchased components.

The position involves cross-functional teaming with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and finance, and business unit divisions of JBPCO.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support onboarding and lead training of new team Morgan Purchasing team members.
  • Coordinate the strategic planning, budgeting and execution of supply chain projects for assigned commodities.
  • Source products domestically and globally.
  • Work collaboratively with the JBPCO sourcing group to support negotiations for assigned commodities.
  • Accurately maintain current quote files and standard costs for all items identified within assigned commodities.
  • Monitors markets for trends in pricing, new products, and new vendors to drive operational costs.
  • Prepares monthly and annual reports for management, government and trade organizations as needed.
  • Participate in the establishment of annual strategic sourcing plans.
  • Collaborate with the Morgan engineering and production departments to facilitate the necessary information flow required to drive strategic projects forward.
  • Engage with suppliers on a frequent basis regarding KPIs for OTD, Quality and Cost.
  • Other duties as assigned.


EXPERTISE REQUIRED / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

B.S. in Supply Chain, Business, or Management; a minor in Finance a plus.

3-5 years of progressive purchasing experience.

1-3 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing setting.

1-3 years' experience in leading supply chain commodity initiatives.

Strong negotiation skills with all levels of management.

Analytic ability including proficient level of knowledge in using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

APICS certification and CPM certification desirable.

Travel up to 10% domestic.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Working in an office environment in a seated position a minimum of eight hours per day is required.

The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection. Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
