In this exciting role as the Senior Field Clinical Site Specialist (FCSS) and part of the Medtronic Clinical Research team , you will be the liaison between the "Customer" (hospital/clinic research center) and the study team. As the primary point of contact, you will be responsible for customer relationship management, knowledge of center processes and resources, activation/trial readiness, and overall center performance management - including data management metrics, monitoring actions, enrollment and screening coaching, and compliance trending. The Senior FCSS will be responsible for knowledge of multiple study protocols, as well as organized and accurate communication exchanges throughout the organization.

Our Cardiac Rhythm Management Operating Unit offers devices and therapies that treat patients with abnormal heart rhythms and heart failure. It is comprised of four key businesses: Cardiac Pacing Therapies, Defibrillation Solutions, Patient Management, and Procedure Innovations. Together, we will transform the lives of people with cardiac arrhythmias and heart failure.

Location: Remote, preferred locations: North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Minnesota

Ability to travel up to 25%.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Customer relationship management, knowledge of center processes and resources
  • Center Activation / Trial Readiness
  • Overall center performance management, including data management metrics, monitoring actions, enrollment and screening coaching, and compliance trending
  • Builds and maintains optimal relationships and effective collaborations with various internal and external parties.
  • Stakeholder interaction (including, but not limited to, Study Teams, Clinical Quality, Reimbursement, Legal) in order to accelerate center activation times, proactively manage center performance and foster strong customer partnerships

Customer Relationship Development/Management:
  • Develops and maintains customer relationships by providing customer-focused support through intimate knowledge of center processes and resources
  • Partners with Medtronic Field Clinical Engineers (FCEs) and the clinical research centers in the development and proactive management of individual center activation, recruitment, and screening strategies
  • Provides ongoing assessment on the need for Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training for research personnel at study centers and provides training as needed.
  • Conducts in-person site visits to clinical centers to build relationships and partner on study goals

Center Performance Management:
  • Manages center performance by applying working knowledge of applicable regulations, good clinical practices, industry practices, and standards and proactively monitors performance metrics across multiple studies, to include metrics such as protocol compliance (e.g. deviations, follow-up schedule adherence), data management metrics, monitoring action items, etc. in order to maintain high quality clinical data
  • Provides objective input to clinical center nomination and selection (e.g. center performance metrics, processes), and advises on which centers to nominate and prioritize within the geographic region.
  • Partners with key stakeholders (e.g. field, shared services and study management colleagues) to deliver on portfolio milestones
  • Works closely with regional FCEs, Consent and Contract Specialists to establish center engagement strategies, understand center needs, drive progress, and co-own success of centers

Must Have (Minimum Requirements):

To be considered for this role, the minimum requirements must be evident on your resume.

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years of clinical research/clinical experience or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years of clinical research/clinical experience

Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications):
  • Clinical Research experience at Medtronic or in the medical device industry
  • Previous experience in a customer facing role
  • Experience with Good Clinical Practices (GCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), or applicable federal regulations related to the conduct of clinical trials
  • Experience in the management of clinical devices
  • Experience in biomedical engineering, hospital/clinic or medical sales
  • Experience in clinical studies and/or trial site management/protocols.
  • Experience collaborating with cross functional clinical partners/customers, physicians and/or medical sales colleagues in the healthcare industry
  • Experience with MS Office Products, such as Word and Excel, as well as Adobe pdf file management
