The Senior Instructional Designer provides support to faculty, programs and colleges in the development and conversion of courses and programs to innovative online and other technology-assisted educational venues utilizing cutting-edge and creative design and course delivery options.



DUTIES



  1. Supports design needs of new online programs, including those with unique pedagogical approaches, such as competency-based education

  2. Manages projects in program development and innovative course design and delivery

  3. Provides instructional support to faculty through consultation with course design teams working on Course Innovation Initiative projects (i.e. course redesign)

  4. Provides instruction support to faculty through individual consultation, classroom observation, and meetings with active faculty Teaching Circles

  5. Assists faculty in the development of course materials for delivery of hybrid and online courses

  6. Assists faculty with conversion of face-to-face courses to hybrid and online formats

  7. Manages projects in the assessment and improvement of current hybrid and online courses

  8. Collaborates, assists, develops and participates in professional development workshops and symposia, particularly with regard to course design and online teaching

  1. Knowledge of trends, issues, and accepted practices relevant to the position

  1. Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse university community
WORK LOCATION AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Primary Work Location: Works in an office environment

Physical Demands:Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements.
Position is physically comfortable; individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc.
Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks

Required Education:





  • Master's degree

Required Experience:





  • Minimum of three (3) years of higher education experience in large-scale online course and digital support initiatives and instructional design and faculty development initiatives


  • Experience facilitating faculty development workshops and working with both junior and senior faculty from different disciplines

License/Certification: None

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS





  • Quality Matters (QM) and/or Online Learning Consortium (OLC) certified in online course design, delivery and/or review will be seen as a significant asset


  • Experience working in a center for educational development


  • Experience providing instructional design for face-to-face, hybrid and online courses


  • Experience collaborating with a variety of academic and administrative offices within a college/university


  • Experience working with FTIC students and underrepresented student groups
