SUMMARY



Manage the Associations initiatives to engage academics, attract talented individuals to become CPAs and CGMAs and drive a wide range of programs and resources to promote excellence and relevance in accounting education.









ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES





  • Manage resources and model curricula needed for CPA Evolution. Includes working with Academic in Residence and task forces required to understand resources needed and oversee creation of resources.

  • Manage academic initiatives including the development of strategies, resources, and programs to improve accounting education to prepare individuals for careers in the accounting profession.

  • Provide strategic insights and tactical excellence in driving new resources for accounting academics.

  • Manage and act as a liaison to stakeholders required to update and promote the AICPAs Pre-certification Core Competency Framework and model curricula.

  • Manage the development and dissemination of resources and programs that promote awareness of the profession and CPA and CGMA careers among university faculty.

  • Represent the Associations interests in Ph.D. programs and initiatives; coordinate effective strategies to maximize opportunities to get CPAs in front of university students in accredited accounting programs.

  • Monitor, communicate and promote awareness of metrics and measures that represent the presence of qualified university faculty teaching accounting programs

  • Advocate and influence university academic initiatives, including the development of strategies and programs to prepare individuals for teaching careers in the profession and helping improve accounting education.

  • Manage relationship with the American Accounting Association (AAA) and serve as the Association liaison to AAA for conference sessions.

  • Function as staff liaison for the Academic Executive Committee (AEC) and provide strategic direction for internal committees and boards in the development of education policies and positions.

  • Promote the Associations education policies, positions and programs to the academic community; create and nurture strategic alliances.


  • Promote the Accounting Education Center site and educator portals on ThisWaytoCPA.com


  • Conduct interviews, make hiring decisions, provide salary recommendations, monitor and assign work, develop employees; develop annual performance expectations, evaluate performance and promote growth and development of team members.


  • Manage educator awards programs.


  • Perform other duties as assigned.







EXPECTED METRICS





  • Create, promote and disseminate resources to the accounting academic community

  • Updating of accounting curriculum resources on the AEC site and provision of new, relevant resources to drive academic excellence, with measurable outcomes

  • Creation of new educators resource center on the web

  • Enhanced influence with key external stakeholders

  • Integration with CGMA academic efforts







QUALIFICATIONS



  • Web, social media and electronic publishing experience

  • Excellent relationship building skills to work collaboratively with outside organizations, academic and association leadership

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills in writing, speaking and formal presentations

  • Ability to interact with the media on academic, university education and related issues

  • Strong project management skills

  • Knowledge of academic environment, preferably in university settings

  • Initiative and drive to achieve outcomes

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

  • Skill in negotiating and building consensus

  • Knowledge of association environment or proven skills in building programs requiring multiple stakeholder collaboration

  • Moderate travel within the US; possible international travel



EXPERIENCE REQUIRED



  • 7 years of experience in communications, accounting, management, education or related fields

  • Background in university-level educational programming, culture and values.

  • Experience in association management and strong communications

  • Experience with accounting profession and education



EDUCATION REQUIRED



  • Bachelors Degree in communications, accounting, management, education or related fields



EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION PREFERRED



  • Masters Degree in communications, accounting, management, education or related fields
