The Finance team is responsible for all aspects of the corporate finance organization, including strategy, implementation, enterprise risk management and internal audit, treasury, tax, procurement and investor relations. These functional areas enable corporate profitability and success by ensuring cost savings and efficiencies, sound reporting of results and accurate forecasts.

Responsibilities

Perspecta is hiring for an exciting Payroll Accountant position to join our payroll accounting team in Chantilly, VA. Ensures the accuracy of preliminary and final payroll reports, time sheets, spreadsheets, and funds distribution; responds to inquiries and requests for data and reports; provides timely and accurate payroll production; and may train and lead payroll clerks. Compiles statistical and payroll data from a variety of sources (e.g. time sheets/payroll, salary adjustments, benefits, leave balances, tax deposits, etc.) for the purpose of providing summaries to other personnel and ensuring compliance with established guidelines. Monitors assigned payroll activities and program components (e.g. County, State, and Federal agencies, tax laws, FMLA, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring compliance with established financial, legal and administrative requirements. Prepares a variety of payroll related documents (e.g. invoices for overpayments, retirement plan transfers, ACH transfers, voluntary and involuntary contributions, SUTA, W-2 controls, workers compensation checks, budget, risk management, verification of employment and salary, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and conveying information. Reconciles payroll account balances (e.g. time sheets, direct deposits, wage attachments, benefits, voluntary and involuntary contributions, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining accurate account balances and complying with established guidelines. Researches discrepancies of payroll information and/or documentation (e.g. time sheets, leave time, salary, supplements, FMLA, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accuracy and adherence to procedures prior to processing.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree plus 8 to 10 years of progressive payroll related experience or a Master's Degree plus 6 to 8 years of progressive payroll related experience is required
  • Multi-state payroll tax experience is required
  • Hands-on payroll experience is required
  • Advanced level Excel proficiency is required
  • Strong analytical skills are required
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required
  • Costpoint experience is preferred
  • UltiPro Payroll experience is preferred
  • WorkDay HR experience is preferred
