Koch Fertilizer, LLC is seeking a highly-driven, self-motivated Senior Process Controls Engineer to join their Operations Excellence team in Wichita, KS.



This position will bring process control expertise to a group which provides capability leadership to enable the Operational Excellence of our fleet of fertilizer plants and terminals. This is accomplished by supporting the plants with projects, turn-arounds, and events; developing standards and guides; helping to define and develop technical capabilities needed at the plants; assessments and benchmarking, including development of assessment tools; and facilitation of Communities of Practice among plants and capability staff to share knowledge and drive improvements.






A Day In The Life Typically Includes:





  • Help to define, communicate, and achieve the vision for automation in our fleet

  • Define and lead implementation of strategies to support the vision, including improvement, optimization, and reliability for automation

  • Lead development of standards, guides, and procedures

  • Help develop automation engineering personnel in plants through training, mentoring, and development of training materials

  • Consult or support plant engineering staff for projects and operational issues




What You Will Need:





  • 15+ years of process control engineering experience or similar experience in a technical role relating to process controls

  • High school diploma

  • Travel up to 50% of the time

  • 5+ years working as a process controls engineer at a petrochemical or similar process facility

  • Experience in designing, configuring, programming, troubleshooting, analyzing events, identifying and implementing improvement of distributed control systems

  • 5+ years experience working with distributed controls (DCS) and safety instrumented (SIS) systems

  • Knowledge of process industry standards and codes i.e. ISA, IEC, etc.

  • Experience providing technical leadership through collaboration, consultation, and mentoring



Physical Requirements:





  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work at heights in excess of 100 feet.

  • Able to pass pulmonary breathing test, wear gas mask respirator and full level A PPE




What Will Put You Ahead?





  • Experiencewithin the automation realm, including capital project development and execution, testing, optimization, mechanical integrity, and reliability?Bachelors Degree in Chemical, Electrical, Computer Science, or related engineering field

  • Experience supporting process control systems in the fertilizer industry and/or experience with process controls equipment for NH3, Urea, UAN and Nitric Acid service

  • 3+ years of experience with Yokogawa DCS and SIS controller systems

  • Experience evaluating, designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced process controls

  • Bachelors Degree in Chemical, Electrical, Computer Science, or related engineering field
