SERVICE DESK EVENING COORDINATOR

Library Services Specialist III

Library- Access Services

 

Salary Range: $3,371 - $6,316/Monthly

 

Work Schedule:Full-Time, Sunday - Thursday, 4:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.; scheduled hours will be adjusted to meet operational needs of the University and library including late evenings and weekend hours; non exempt classification. Temporary, expires on or before one year from date of hire; may be extended; may become permanent.

 

Essential Job Functions: Under the general direction of the Head of Operations and User Experience, the incumbent will ensure that Service desk operations during evenings run smoothly and library patrons receive high quality customer service. The incumbent will oversee the work of User Experience student assistants scheduled to work in the evenings, working closely with the Circulation Services Coordinator to make sure student employees are properly trained and supported. The incumbent will suggest data driven changes to streamline operations and help develop and document procedures, analyze and respond to patron inquiries and complaints, and provide excellent customer service. The incumbent will be responsible for the security and safety of all library users, collections, and equipment; closing and securing the library buildings throughout the week and identifying and responding to facilities issues as appropriate. The incumbent will act as a member of the Access Services team. The Access Services team within the library is comprised of 11 full time staff who oversee circulation, reserves, collection maintenance, resource sharing, and facilitates.

 

Requirements

Required Qualifications and Experience: Four years of full time customer service and/or library experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education. The incumbent must have proven experience resolving issues raised by customers and being responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for all customers; and with standard office software (MS Office and web applications). The incumbent must have demonstrated strong, commitment to public services and improving the user experience. The incumbent must have excellent analytical, organizational, problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills. The incumbent must have the ability to balance competing priorities and improve workflows. The incumbent must have commitment to fostering a diverse educational environment and workplace and have demonstrated interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position.

 

Desired Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or equivalent training. Two or more years full time library experience; recent experience using circulation functions in an integrated library system (ILS) and an understanding of circulation parameters, bibliographic and item records, and patron databases; and experience using Ex Libris’s Alma ILS and SpringShare library software.
