The Software Architect will be responsible for develop designs, solutions and for all defined qualitative attributes for OCLCs End User Services (e.g., availability, scalability, manageability, portability, etc.). The candidate is expected to perform high level analysis and design of software and systems to help with the overall strategy and vision for the applications in the End User Services portfolio.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for development of designs, solutions and for all defined qualitative attributes e.g., availability, scalability, manageability, portability
  • Research, analyze options and design technical solutions that solve business problems, introduce enhancements or new capabilities;
  • Ability to identify optimal technology choices based on multiple criteria depending on problem context (cost, security, reliability, performance, etc.)
  • Maintain cohesive technical design, as well as high-level system architecture documentation for a portfolio of applications within a domain
  • Provide support and technical guidance to development teams as needed; Mentor less experienced colleagues
  • Ability to interface across multiple business areas and collaborate with product owners around tactical and strategic initiative planning, prioritization and estimations;
  • Effectively communicate and influence technical partners (dev leads and other architects) for shared solutions spanning multiple domains;

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required plus 10 to 14 years experience at a high technical level of knowledge and experience.
  • Solid understanding of 12-factor app principles; key web application patterns from micro-services, event driven architecture to SPAs, traditional MVC webapps;
  • Experience in architecture and application design for a large scale internet facing web applications;
  • Knowledge of Agile processes & practices, Domain Driven Design, Data modeling;
  • Experience in DevSecOps, cloud native and hybrid architecture;
  • Java, Groovy, JavaScript, JMS, ReactJS, REST, Docker;
  • Spring, SpringBoot, SpringSecurity, OAuth2, SAML protocols;
  • Experience in AWS (preferred) - Fargate, Lambda, API gateway, Aurora/DynamoDB
