The Rapid Development Team (RDT) is the customer facing side of F5 Product Development and has the charter to keep our existing clientele happy. RDT accomplishes this through two major arenas diagnosing and resolving the hardest customer issues (SRs) using a dedicated group of elite software engineers who thrive on the hunt, and by providing quality improvements to fielded releases via defect analysis, defect selection, and regression testing.

RDT has a unique vantage point within F5 Product Development. Our Software and Test Engineers understand the product in its entirety not only how the features work but how they work together. This makes RDT engineers highly valued at F5. Some of the best engineers at F5 work for or have worked for RDT.

Attractions of the Job: This position is responsible for the troubleshooting of customer reported issues, identification, evaluation, and solution of complex software issues. Work as an individual contributor and collaborate with peers. A big plus if individual contributor has ability to fix the software issues after troubleshooting. Very close interaction with customer facing teams and software development teams is expected.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose/troubleshoot incoming customer issues and bridge the gap between customer facing and software development teams. Primary focus is finding cause of software failures by troubleshooting and approaches to mitigate the problems with work arounds or sharing information of fix patch or fix the problem by delivering the software patches.

  • Ability to debug reported issues in depth using tools, log files and customer configurations.

  • Build, deployment of patches, rollout of created hotfix images are few other expectations.

  • Self-motivated and ability to context switch between work items based on urgency and need.

  • Efficiently communicate/collaborate internally at F5.

  • May participate in hiring and onboarding process.

  • Passion for learning new technologies and being ready to adapt to need of hour.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent analytic / troubleshooting and debugging skills.

  • Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms required.

  • Strong C++ or C, multithreading skills required.

  • Knowledge in network protocols like TCP, UDP, IP is required. Knowledge HTTP/HTTP2, RADIUS/DIAMETER, IPSEC, SSL or DNS are optional, adds more value.

  • Added advantage if has experience in software design and development.

  • Experience programming on Linux based operating systems.

  • Experience of working in large scale software code base is desired.

  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communications.

  • Able to collaborate and thrive in a fast-paced high-performance environment.

  • CCNA certification is big value add, desired.

Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 6 years of related experience with a Bachelors degree; or 2 years and a Masters degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent work experience.
