OnTrac is hiring a Sort Manager!!


Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM with 5 working days!!


The Sort Manager manages all the sorts activities within assigned areas of the HUB. The Sort Manager manages all volume within assigned sort ensuring that all packages are handled within quality standards and workers environment is safe and conducive to efficient operations. The Sort Manager makes sure that incoming and outgoing volume is directed to the correct destination and leaves on time.


The Sort Manager ensures that all new employees are trained in safe and effective methods to manage packages throughout the sortation system.


Responsibilities


  1. Maintain and contribute to a safe work environment by adhering to policies and procedures. Strives for an injury free work environment; is notified of and investigates all injuries; finds solutions to prevent repetitive injuries

  2. Communicates delays or any issues to Hub Manager and anyone else that needs to know; quickly prioritizes or re-prioritizes work to prevent service failures

  3. Conducts pre-sort meetings, keeping employees informed of daily goals, upcoming events and maintains an open line of communication to engage employees.

  4. Responsible for the collection, loading and tracking of all packages per SOPs.

  5. Assists with daily planning of sort times and staffing; tracks attendance and manages sorter performance. Stays within budgeted labor hours for sorters adjusting staffing when necessary.

  6. Continually seeking opportunities for improvement of key metrics and executing action plans to achieve results.

  7. Coordinates equipment including trailers, tractors and congears.

  8. Knows the name of all sorters assigned to sort. Greets new sorters on their first day and provides a tour of the assigned area.

  9. Consistently walks around the sort making sure any issues are quickly resolved. Provides support to Leads and sorters throughout the shift. Talks to all employees on a daily basis to increase employee engagement and help reduce turnover.

  10. Works diligently to maintain fair and legal treatment of assigned employees.

  11. Responsible for interviewing sorter candidates.

  12. Works with other departments and uses cross functional support to achieve key goals.

  13. Responsible for ADP entries and corrections. Responsible to ensure meal breaks are taken on time.

  14. Responsible for setting up company drivers routes as well as assisting in line haul planning with different vendors. Requires working knowledge of the CBA.

  15. Develops and maintains relationships with customers (Newgistics, Amway, Amazon) where manager acts as spokesperson/representative for OnTrac.

  16. Responsible for ensuring that all needed tools are available for employees; water, cups, tape dispensers, knives, cooling bandanas and other necessary equipment. Ensures that the assigned warehouse section is clean for the next shift.

  17. Leadership responsibilities include but are not limited to: hiring, terminations, coaching, skills development, recognition and rewards, performance management, discipline, addressing employee concerns and staff productivity.

Work Environment:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in warehouse and office environment. The employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate.


Physical Demands:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to communicate verbally. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, bend, climb, push, pull, twist or crouch. The physical activity associated with this position is considered high. The employee will regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.



Minimum Requirements:


Minimum requirements for a Sort Manager are two years industry experience and one year as a lead, supervisor or a degree.


For Internal candidates- must be with company for 1 year and no disciplinary actions for 6 months.


For internal applicants - must have been in their current position for at least six months
